What are you doing this weekend?
Good morning. Just thought I would start this thread before I head to the sewing room. I'm hoping to finish a quilt today and then start a small project or two. Once this quilt is done, I'll only have one UFO left, I think. Of course, that one UFO is a king sized quilt that needs to be sandwiched and finished! Hopefully I'll be in the sewing room most of the day. After church tomorrow, I'm heading to Aunt Ruth's Quilt Shop to sign up for some of their upcoming quilt classes. Then back home and maybe some more quilting. Big plans for the weekend, let's see how well it turns out! :)
Good morning, Heather. I'm going to be working on a quilt for my granddaughter. It's lavender with Tinkerbells and lots of embroidery. Hope she likes it.
I just spend 3 days out of town with my mom, got home last night, so first I have to grocery shop for a few perishables, then I am going to deliver a comissioned baby quilt that is finally finished, then home to sew on my newest scrappy quilt. Tomorrow I plan to sew all day and have a "pajama day."
TAXES! Ugh.
Good morning! The snow is coming down but it really doesn't matter. This is the very first day of my retirement and it feels like pure bliss. Have yet to get out of my bathroom and am enjoying my second cup of tea. Believe I'll change into sweats and baste my bowtie table topper, done in soft colors of taupe, coral and aqua. Promised husband a pan of homemade cinnamon rolls too. Life couldn't be better. So much time, so many quilts!
fred is layed up from having knee surgery on thursday, nate has a baseball game at 10....but when i can, it's back to organizing the sewing closet and room!
Two of the grandkids are over, they enjoy sewing with me, so we might just do that. They both want to make a quilt. DGD (9) has already started hers. DGS (11) is still looking in books for his. Oh what fun!!
How about if I come help you with sandwiching your king size quilt and then you come here to help me with my Calking size quilt? I have to cut the batting still and mark the quilting lines. It just isn't happeing. It has been at this phase for 1 1/2 weeks now and I need to get this done for DDs wedding June 2. In the mean time I have signed up for about 8 swaps, done one lap quilt top, the top and sandwiched the quilt for quilters swap quilt and done one top for a baby quilt. Anything to get out of quilting. This is where I get stuck at.
I'm hoping to finish quilting and binding my quilt today. I had it quilted once before, was not happy with it so I took out all the stitches and am doing it again. Once this is complete I'm going to start 2 wall/lap quilts for gifts.
I plan on finishing the last 3 donation quilts - do some gardening (weeds ugh), food shop, and maybe straighten up the fabric in the closet, and put a bunch of it for sale online.
hoping to finish the binding on my GFG.
Load quilt on frame and have some fun with it!!!
I'm hoping to get more squares cut for a baby quilt I'm working on. My husband would appreciate it if I cleared some of my fabrics that I'm working with off of our living room furniture (I don't have a sewing room or sewing desk). However, I have to clean my kitchen and wash dishes because I was gone for a good part of the day yesterday and was in a rush to get out the door so breakfast dishes weren't washed. I got home about time for supper, so we stopped and bought a bucket of chicken and everyone put their dishes by the sink. I was so tired from having my baby boy (11 yr. old) at an oral surgery consultation that I just left the dishes. I hate washing dishes, always have, so when we moved into our house I was thrilled that it had a working dishwasher. After 4 years of living here, that dishwasher has died! But my husband says that when our new stove is paid off (it died last year) then he's buying me a new dishwasher. Once I get the kitchen cleaned, I'm supposed to clean my bathroom, but that might wait until Tuesday when I would normally do it anyways. My DH suggested that I do it today because our baby boy has surgery on Monday and he's going to be a grumpy bottom on Tuesday. But I want to relax and get some quilt work done this weekend because I won't get much if any done on Monday, and probably not on Tuesday either.
Today most of the day will be spent piecing a new quilt. Tonight have to take my DD to meet up with her friends to go to prom..Tomorrow another dd leaves to go back to college from spring break with the new quilt and pillow shams I made her during her break...Then back to work quilting!! One of the only bonuses of being on disability
I'm finishing a few new Twister designs.
I want to finish the McCalls Mystery quilt- got my magazine this past week - Work on another pattern that I am testing - maybe do some Boomerang blocks - oh and try to finish a strip quilt that I started on Monday :)
Congrats on your retirement SouthPStitches!! Have FUN!
Today I need to water some Hostas that I set out last weekend, blow all the oak seed pods off the deck, pull weeds from the front flower bed and lay mulch down, pile the straw that I pulled off the strawberry plants last week so I can mow around the strawberry bed. Then I hope to finish quilting cowboy boots and horseshoes on the customer's quilt so I can load another one Monday. Oh what a wonderful day - I love outside chores this time of year, combine that with quilting and I am in Heaven. |
Oh Sharon B, I still have not received my McCall's magazine for May/June. Hopefully it will come today and I can start part 3 tonight.
Tried to do a little yard-sale-ing this morning but it started raining after the first one... This afternoon playing Mexican Train dominoes with a group of ladies. No quilting for me today. Hopefully tomorrow back in the quilt studio. Planning a quilt for a boy toddler and not happy yet with anything I've come up with. Needs to come from my stash. I have some airplane fabric so I am going to try to find something to work with that.
Finishing my second cup of coffee and then it's up stairs to my sewing room to work on quilt for my Guild's show in May. I'm designing my own pattern and that's taking some time since I'm not too good at that but I need to get going as quilt show registration forms are due soon and I need the know the quilt's size and also attach a photo of the quilt to the form. Nothing like waiting until the last minute. It's chilly, dark and raining today and what I really want to do is stay in my sweats, lie on the couch and watch old movies. May in Jersey
I catch a plane tomorrow morning to go to Amarillo, TX to see my 95 y.o. Mom.
Good Morning! I too want to send retirement congrats out to SouthPStitches. I feel a little like retired staying with my 85 year old dad. (Giving brother and wife a break) He has had breakfast, coffee and meds. Still need to do eyedrops for him. Planned on pressing some dresden plate pieces that I made with the wedge, so much easier cutting than when my granny taught me to make the cardboard templates around 44 years ago. (that was my first pieced quilt top). Last night I cut the chain piecing apart, then went through and trimmed all the corners while watching westerns with dear daddy. Oh, lastly I turned them. Now ready to press. I took them over to my mom's house the other day and got her excited that she dug out some precut dresden kits we bought years ago and made up some plates.
Apparently, I get a ride later to get groceries.(I let my SIL keep dad's car since she was used to having it.) They are wonderful to come get me for a few hours break or even let me stay all night with mom. So I just sew. I also hope to finish squaring up some hand embroidered flower blocks for a quilt top I want to make for my daughter. So anymore than that after getting groceries will be a plus. Everyone have a great Saturday. Teresa |
Last weekend I started a wall hanging for one DGD and a quilt for another. I had to rush DH to the emergency room and was there with him all day and most of the night as they kept him in hospital over night. We seam to be back to normal this weekend so I am headed for the sewing room when I get off here.
Congratulations on your retirement, you will LOVE it! And homemade cinnamon rolls, I think your husband is gonna love it too : ) Have fun and enjoy every minute of your freedom!

Sitting in a hotel room in NYC. It is rainy and cold so I will stay in and catch up on reading. I am NOT a city girl! Will meet up with friends for dinner tonight. This is just not my cup of tea. I want to be home quilting!
I spent the morning priming the cabinet doors for my kitchen at my new house. I hope to have time this afternoon to load a quilt onto the frame. Have to sand those doors tomorrow :)
I'm finishing up a lap quilt for my cousin and hope to get it in the mail on Monday. I have 3 girl cousins left (we are older than dirt) and I'm making each of them a lap quilt before all our bucket lists run out!!!
I'm sewing the binding to the back of some wall hangings. Then have to work on the Craftsy blocks for this month so I don't get behind.
I cleaned up in my sewing room(s). Sorted all the fabric I acquired at retreat and my UFOs. Then it is so nice I went outside to work on cleaning out my beds. So far I have the herb bed done and am working on my main flower bed. Hope to get it and the lavender bed done today. That way if it rains tomorrow I can sew guilt free!

I need to clean my quilting room badly! I've had so many projects going at once and now it shows!! I'm doing the BOM at Craftsy also and am waiting until tomorrow for April's two new blocks. That's what's urging me to clean my room. Boy, I'm still having to clean my room like when I was a little kid and my mom would make me clean my room on Saturdays. Oh, and it's Saturday too! Just like when I was little. Better get busy.
I so far have finished 2 UFO today. Will post them after I get pictures of them. Working on binding my quilt for the doll quilt exchange for April.
I used to laugh when people said they had all these UFO's. Right now I have the BOM on this board that I just caught up with, I got another star done for the 50 PP stars BOW, I pieced a hockey/soccer/basketball jersey quilt, and I cut the fabric for the jelly roll heart quilt that I got the link for on the board. (In the meantime, I have 100 t-shirts that have been prepped for 2 t-shirt quilts and I have just started a quilt made of my husband's dress shirt discards). It has been a pretty productive day. I have all of my UFO's set up in clear boxes and they are all well organized and easy to get to. I have just started a box for my DJ that I plan to start in the next few weeks. Oh... and I am going to set up a box for a cathedral windows quilt.
I made a 3 dimentional folded block wall hanging. Home alone and spent the day in my Diva Den.
Congrats on retirement and future baby. I went to 2 quilting shops for KC shop hop. That's all the time I have to go this time , usually I go to all the stores, but saving my money for the 3 day bus trip next month. Yea! i spend afternoon with my sister and evening with my husband. Only had 1 hour to iron and cut blocks for challenge scrapy quilt, which is due next month. Tomorrow it's back to work I go. Enjoy your weekend everyone!
Got the strip quilt done- all the cutting for the McCalls Mystery quilt is done- will work on putting the rows together tomorrow , so a pretty good day :)
I made a stained glass frame for a wedding invitation for DD's best friend and finished all but about 10 inches of binding on a quilt (pics tomorrow). Tomorrow morning DH & I are going to rent a tiller and dig up the big front garden so we can replant it. Sounds crazy but we re-shaped it last year when we had a new sidewalk put in. Then Monday we have to attend a memorial service for a friend who passed last week. Sometimes geting older just isn't any fun. :-( All in all, a very full weekend.
