Mug rugs - 6" x 9" mats with space for mug (or stein) and a snack. Attach a little note saying , "enjoy your new mug rug" so they have a clue about what it's for.

No men - no problem.

I do...hot pants! Bun warmers...how cute! Living in MI, I should make myself a pair!

girlsfour 11-08-2011 04:15 AM

For men I have made flannel pants, fleece neck warmer things (can't think of the name), and boxers. The boxers weren't really the hubby's thing but he wears them when laundry is getting low. Used pirate map fabric, haha. The neck warmer things are super easy - it's a Kwik Sew pattern that also comes with a great mitten pattern. For those of us who live in the colder climates that is!

I have an Indian panel and buffalo panels that I am making into wall hangings. My son wants western theme items for his new apartment. I made mug rugs to go with them. I am also making pillow cases with Jayhawk material for my other son who is a Kansas Jayhawk fan. Last year, I made a lap quilt for my son who is a Kansas City Chiefs fan with Kansas City Chief material and other NFL material. I found a large red felt Christmas bag to put it in.

lovingmama 11-08-2011 04:38 AM

Mug rugs and his own quilt! He loves his coffee, wherever he goes, and likes the warmth on his toes.

MrsH2008 11-08-2011 04:43 AM

For the Hubby it's a Notre Dame quilt. Boys are wanting a crocheted Newsboy style hat. So, three of those and a couple of scarves.

taylorsgmom 11-08-2011 05:12 AM

I've made my SIL a pillowcase from fishing fabric. I'm going to make a cover for his iPad with pics from their trip to Hawaii. Husband, not so sure. Bought him a back massager at the quilt festival. May make him some pajama pants as well.

mountain deb 11-08-2011 05:13 AM

Good question...........uummmm when I figure it out, I will let you know.

Murphy1 11-08-2011 05:30 AM

My hsband has the ebook the Nook. I am going to make him a quilted cover for it. I saw one for an iPad on line and I will just change the measurements. I plan on making one for my sister's iPad as well.

starlite 11-08-2011 05:41 AM

I think it is actually called a "log carrier" and for some reason I think I recently saw directions on the internet somewhere?

I just read all 6 pages of these posts and you all have given me some good ideas for my guys. Thanks!!

The dh LOVES those flannel sleep pants, and he is tall so they are usually not long enough. Thanks for the suggestion, I need to hunt down the pattern.

You can find a pattern in the pattern books. I've seen them but don't remember which book.

I use one of those and LOVE it. The one I've got is a nylon/plastic thing - probably $5 at Lowe's, but it's ripping at the handles and seams. Canvas is an inspired idea - much more durable...

I'm in the same boat with one of my sons in law. Fleece socks is on the menu for him.

. I have seen that you can purchase special thread that smart phones/iPads etc accept. Last year when I looked into buying some I was very expensive - wonder if the price has gone down cuz then all you need is a few stitches in the pointer fingers. I have the totes brand of this.

Don't forget to add a couple of little pockets so he can put some hand (butt) warmers in it. He'll get the humor then! LOL

I am making my DH another quilt, and curtain for the window. I will also make a wind draft to put at bottom of window. I am still working on our anniversary quilt. I will probably make some more pillows with the pieces of fabric I got from an upholstery shop. Gorgeous fabric and elegant.

Beachbound 11-08-2011 07:45 AM

Great answers! Can we show more pictures??? I would love to see what you're working on!

raptureready 11-08-2011 08:12 AM

I might make my dh some shirts or I might sandwich and quilt one of the tops I have finished. I just don't know yet.

TexasGurl 11-08-2011 09:23 AM

HOPEfully finishing a fishing quilt for my DH ... or at least giving him the completed TOP to see ! LOL Don't usually sew much for the guys. Made them fleece throws and matching pillows for their pro /college teams a couple yrs ago ...

Redrover0628 11-08-2011 09:36 AM

I am making a quilted wallhanging for his office with his favorite brown chesapeake bay retriever on it. The pattern is from Debbie Mumm's "Bowsers and Meowsers." Can't wait to see if I will be able to finish it without him knowing about it!

polly13 11-08-2011 11:31 AM

I am making a wall hanging of a loon. He just loves them and does have an empty wall space in his bathroom downstairs.

MissJMac 11-08-2011 12:09 PM

How about a set of pillowcases to match the sleep pants (I love the pillowcases Jenny makes at Missouri Star Quilt, they're super easy and look professionally tailored). Everyone is getting a pair from me (some with other gifts and some just the pillowcases).

Some slipper gripper fabric on the soles, and some old very thin fleece for the wadding (batting) inside (between the denim and the lining). Very Cozy. I have about 15 pairs cut out so far, but need to get a move on if they are all going to be finished in time!

Do you have a pattern for these, sounds like something I would like.

ywoodruff5 11-08-2011 12:28 PM

Robe, PJs, mug rug or, in my case, quilted gag! Just kidding.

Jo M 11-08-2011 12:33 PM

Favorite sport team (hunting or whatever) fleece throws are always welcome & BBQ aprons for those that cook. I'm making camping themed pillowcases too this year. I'm going to watch this thread...for more ideas.

Deborah12687 11-08-2011 01:03 PM

I am making Christmas vests for my hubby and my 2 sons. I also have been working on finishing my hubby's lap quilt plus making him a quilted lunch bag. He always uses wallmart bags and he looses stuff out of it so I am making it out of fabric and line it.

rexie 11-08-2011 01:25 PM

I may try to make my son and husband some of the gators. There was a picture on the old board for them.

I have a question about the fleece socks. Are they actually socks that you wear with shoes? Seems like they would be too thick. Or are they more like slippers? It seems like they would be slippery. I guess no more than regular socks. duh

lots of my regular knitted socks are really slippers and we all (from Knitting Paradise) use that 'tool handle dip,' to make them less slippery. I personally make two paper stencils...a 2" circle for the heel and a 3" oval for the ball of the foot. then i socks on, place stencil in the right place and use a small makeup sponge triangle to 'daub' the rubbery dip onto the correct place. you don't have to use the stencil, but it does make it neater. After daubing on, i sit in my recliner with my feet up and aim my hair dryer at them for about 20 minutes (or the length of my favorite movie)...then they are dry 'enough' to pull over a quart jar to let them completely dry before giving away. Please be sure to give them some type of anti-slip treatment if donating to senior centers. On the other hand, my grandchildren were disappointed when they couldn't slide all the way down the hall anymore and they quickly learned to turn the socks upside down when playing....gotta love 'em...:D

I have a guy friend that cooks. I was thinking of making him potholders with the funky chicken machine embroidery designs on them. Also I was thinking of making him a quilt in oblong squares of green and blue with a gecko machine embroidered on strategic areas of the quilt, like lizards are sneaking around his quilt top.

Quiltbeagle 11-08-2011 05:40 PM

I'm going to try to sew a few doo-rags for my biker husband, and my son needs a case to hold some flash drives for his laptop so I'll try and figure out how to make one of those. After that I'm stumped so I'll be watching this thread for more ideas, too. .

Scakes 11-08-2011 08:06 PM

My future son-in-law is a University of Alabama football fan so I am making him a smallish "Alabama" quilt. Will be watching this to get other ideas for the guys on my list. In the past, I have made what I call tab towels - hand size towels with a top that you can button over a drawer handle or hang on a golf bag, etc.

rexie 11-08-2011 08:12 PM

Do you have a picture of your slipper boots?
