Two baby quilts- for cousins-, a Quiltville ufo, and a small bag for a DGD. And when time or bored, I can peek at another ufo or two..... ;)

working on the never-ending bin of plaids making quilts for the non-profit I am with, Quilts From the Heart. The plaid quilts (along with patriotic quilts) will be delivered to our Veterans Hospital on Veterans Day. 5 tops done, quilting next. Also will quilt a baby quilt for a friend today and hope to quilt an applique quilt (all friendship blocks) that has been hanging around for 10 years. My small group meets tonight and I would like to bring something for show and tell.

No quilting right now. Making boxers for all the guys in the family.

I'll have to try big stitch quilting one day; it's probably the only hand quilting I'll ever be good at. I think what turned me off hand quilting was the fact that, no matter how much I tried, I couldn't get small even stitches-- just big stitches!

Thanks for replying. I will look for the ceramic chalk pencil but I am unlikely to find it. I live in a rural area. There are a few quilt shops but not many notions carried and when they do have them, they are very expensive. I do not order online.

I'm working on a Farm Girl Vintage block of the month from a local LQS. We are doing the 6 inch blocks. Really cute blocks and fabrics. I got behind on this due to a couple other quilts that I wanted to do. Also, working on a new quilt called Jamaican Stars that is in the Sept/Oct issue of Quiltmaker magazine. Actually the designer, Scott Flanagan, is with one of our local LQS. I was surprised and pleased to find this in the national magazine. It just spoke to me and I had to start it. It is made with batiks and I'm still needing to get a few more pieces.

This is so much fun to see everyone's projects. This is such an awesome board!
I've been on a mission to quilt tops and get some UFO's done. I've quilted 9 tops in the last 3 weeks. This last week I did the machine part of the binding for them. (I now have a pile to work on while I'm sitting and waiting for my son at various activities!) And I've made 4 backs with 2 more to go! Here's one I did the binding on yesterday: |
Kristi- that's gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beehive- I love that pattern!!!!! |
I'm quilting a bargello heart quilt in orange's and yellows. I started a Little House on the Prairie baby quilt but not far along. I have a half square triangle scrap quilt I work on as leader/ender. Plus I have many quilt tops I need to start quilting on. If I could figure out how to post photos without downloading my entire Photo library I'll post pics later.

i'm working oh a hand pieced 1" hex quilt. the shapes are dog bones, but they are randomly put together. kinda tossed with white hexes between.
|
I'm working on a Judy & Judel Niemeyer quilt, "WaterWheel". It's a lovely pattern, but not for the faint of heart! I've finished the first two rounds & now need to go back to my LQS for help with the final accent blocks. I'm totally flabbergasted at all the stitch lines & need more help. We really love what I have so far!

I'm making 4 fall table toppers as well as 5 of the elf Christmas stockings. Am playing with variations of the Carpenter Star (or Wheel) for the toppers since no one wants runners and I love the looks of the Carpenter Star. Am finishing organizing quilting tools and notions -- have been working on this most of the summer since every box I unpacked had not only fabric but tools and notions and I want to put everything in its place so I don't keep buying "lost" items.

I'm working on a king size quilt for my daughter's Christmas gift. Also a striped quilt from a Kaffe Fasset book. I'm also learning to paint on silk. The painting is so fun and challenging that I've gotten behind on the quilt sewing!
|
Practicing my quilting on some smaller size 40" x 40" (maybe a bit longer on some) quilts made from kits the guild puts together. They get finished and I get the practice.
Also finishing up 2 Fairy Panel quilts for my niece, and some Quilt by Column as well. Most of my work is charity from various groups. I sew with 4 different groups so I always have a ton of choices as to size & color.. LOL Currently I'm in a "use the Stash" mode. I'm making kits out of my own stash for future quilts. Much easier to just pick up and sew. Plus, quilts in baggies take up so much less room than yardage. |
I am finishing up machine quilting a challenge quilt for a quilt show and I am in 2 block of the months. I also need to make some more pillow cases.
|
I'm working on my first one block wonder. Taking a break from all of the hexies. :0)
|
Kristi-love the quilt!

Thanks everyone for the kinds words! It was fun to collect reds! :D

Yes, I think freezer paper would be good but unfortunately I have never seen it in this area. I don't order online and the nearest big city is too far away from here.....not sure I would find freezer paper there even if I did make the trip. I have heard that it is carried in some quilt shops in the area but is very expensive.. |
I'm working on a special quilt for my son who wants an outdoors theme with hunting/fishing. He wanted the background to be RealTree Camouflage. So...that's what he's getting. Animals from the northern woods, a focal fishing panel, personal pics of him with his previous catches and one of him and his motorcycles. One is a pic his dad took while they were having a guys day out. They took a motorcycle trip up the Mount Washington in New Hampshire. Had a great day. I've detailed everything but the background fabric. Have started it, but doc says I have tennis elbow and have to wait until it heals before quilting more. I've made him two pillowcases to match to go with it.
