MacyB, I ordered a roll of batting from JoAnn's, HUGE investment but when it was on sale it was a bit less HUGE. Any way, it arrived in less than 7 days. The last roll I ordered was the beginning of Covid. It lasted about two years. In the end I think it was a savings. I also piece scraps of batting for donation quilts and baby quilts that I quilt a bit heavier than wall hangings.

My goals on the sewing side of my workroom are to:
  • finish current cross stitch pattern quilt with 1" squares
  • make a table cover for dining table
  • Practice FMQ on border project
  • Make a Convergence quilt (bought the book)
  • Make a "window" with a panel" quilt
  • Create an applique quilt pattern from stained glass pattern to match my newest window

Hopefully I get every thing cut out by the end of March.

======

Working on some quilts for Salvation Army to keep at the shelter. I have to make certain everything can be washed so I put everything thru hot water with a color catcher with every quilt. So far nothing has faded. THANKFULLY. In this way I can still keep many people warm, and the blankets can be washed and dried without mildewing. Both are happy and it helps get rid of my stash HA HA HA HA! That will never happen. I'm certain as I opened a box and 5-inch squares started jumping out and dancing all over the floor. I'm beginning to believe the Quilt Cops have a key to my apartment and are shoving more boxes inside the door. Somehow, they get past my 1 cat--he protects HIS apartment fiercely. No one comes into this apartment that he does not like.

The one time he stopped me from opening the door at a different home but when we heard the Officer he laid down and started rolling around on the floor (He LOVES his Officers). I opened the door and all of a sudden, we heard him snarl as he jumped. The Officer ducked because he thought my cat was going for him. Was glad he did but my cat went over his head and grabbed the hand of the fool coming up behind that Officer with a knife in his hand. He was going after the Officer as the Officer was arresting his brother. The knife was long enough to go into his heart. My Cat grabbed the knife hand and clamped tight. Saved my Officer and gave the hand up only when a second Officer arrived and took that fool into custody.

The idiot tried to sue me because the cat bit him. The judge listened to the fool, and then he questioned both Officers. Then the judge said the cat is one of the best examples of a hero’s demonstration of courage that has ever sat in his court room. Then sentenced both brothers to 35 years and no parole until my cat passes. Ordered them out of the court room so he could come down and ask if my cat would allow him the privilege of petting him. My cat jumped into his arms and laid there for almost an hour. Both Officers also were petting him.

At the department’s Top Cop Awards dinner both my cats received an invitation. The Chief had my younger sister, mother, and myself along with both cats given Police escort to the dinner at the city hall. Everyone that had a Hero being honored received the escort and free meal. Both cats received a miniature badge, and they were given a certificate honoring the first ever Feline Cops—every Officer at that department have an “Adam Squad” (2 Officer car) and my two cats are permanent partners by order of the Judge. Their meal was made from pure salmon—raw. Neither left a scrap.
I have a new quilt to work on for 2023.
1 judge quilt holding my cat.
I will be using a flag fabric for the background and a silhouette format for the images. This quilt will go to the court. The senior judge wants to have it hung in the judge’s court room as he has recently passed away. I think I’ll make it so it can hang behind the Judge’s chair.

  1. I think the biggest goal for me is to not allow my cutting table to end up with a Mt Scrapmore growing on it. Whch for me means PUT BACK ater every project..
  2. I sew forProject Llinus so goal is to sew up 2 kits every month for them.
  3. Try to ontinue to make larger quilts for PL that are for bigger kids....that means more fab OUT THE DOOR!!!
  4. Shop my stash. After everyone was in bed I took two hours to reorganize my stash..OMG keep me out of JoAnns and Hbby Lobby. (when I realized I was stnding in the middle of the room AND talking to myself...time to go to bed...lol

Simple goal for me in 2023:
Never put anything and I mean anything down without saying to myself “ I am putting this( fill in the blank) on the desk or in my purse or on the cutting table , etc” saying it out loud helps. Oh and so does not putting something on top of something else as in putting a fat quarter on top of my phone which I just told myself I was putting on the dining room table!!!
wish me luck!

I plan to work on making some scrap quilts and try to control the scrap population. I also want to finish some UFO's. I will still buy fabric, but I plan to stash shop before I got to the quilt shop more...unless there is a good sale....or something that I just have to have. What can I say? I'm a fabriholic.

I haven’t finalized my 2023 quilting goals yet. Last year it was finish 22 in 22. I finished 31. Not all were UFOs, some were new starts.
my ‘from now on’ goal is to finish what I start. No more adding to the ufos.
1) Finish Ufos— how many? Say 12
2) Improve my knowledge of EQ8 - have joined a class for that.
3) Reduce the stash- need to think of a measurable goal for that. Any ideas?
4) Make and donate a quilt to my guild for our outreach program.
5) Clean and organize the sewing room
6) make art/ improv quilts play with techniques
That should be plenty.
I love reading everyone’s ideas.

GOD PLEASE GIVE ME THE WILL, STRENGTH & HEALTH TO COMPLETE!!!!!
