After I've decided on a pattern & have chosen fabrics, I love the beginning of measuring & cutting. Won't be long til I have to put a block together to see what's happening.
I can lose myself in that process. Now dont ask me about making the backing fit & sandwiching. Hate that part. Once I can begin my lame version of free motion I'm good again. |
I love every aspect of making the quilt. My favorite would be making the blocks and seeing the top come to life.
|
I enjoy the binding the most -- it feels so rewarding to see the quilt almost finished.
|
watching it come together on the design wall.

Other than shopping (ha!). That first slice into the first fabric is such a buzz. The only part I dislike is basting, and I get discouraged during binding because it never looks perfect.
|
Mine are making the top, and believe it or not, sewing the binding to the back of the quilt by hand. I have always loved hand work, which is why I am attracted to applique.

My favority is finishing them and giving them to the recipent. Love to see their face when they get it as they're not aware they're getting one. Otherwise the creating the quilt from which pattern to use, which fabrics and then going on to the part of which quilting patterns to use on it when it gets to that stage. Making the quilt seems a snap but the creative part is the hardest for me to decide on. I'm still new at all this stuff so its hard for me to know if it looks good.

The piecing of it. I hate to pick fabrics because I am color coordinating deficient, but once I get that done, I can cut and piece and do that part. If I am going to be hand quilting it, then I love that part of it.
|
Yeah, the top is my favorite, the rest makes me not sew just thinking about it!
