what are your favorite star blocks?
I am starting to design my next quilt. I am thinking about a star sampler quilt. I know their are patterns out there, but I am wanting to improve my drafting skills, so I am starting this one with a blank piece of paper! I decided on a star sampler, set on point. it will have 18 blocks, so I need 18 different stars. Any ideas? what are your favorite star patterns? I am looking for both simple and complex blocks.
Here is what I have so far... sawtooth ohio lemoyne friendship What are your must do stars?? |

And here's one from Quiltville... I think this is called "Slanted Star" tho Bonnie calls it "Smokey Mountain Stars". I love it, whatever the name of it is!!!

great ideas! I'd seen the annie's choice before, but didn't know what it was called. That block looks great in two-tone. I am loving the dolly madison! the slanted star in really fun, but I'm not sure how it would look on point.

I like Judy Martins star quilts. She mixes the sizes of her stars. Cookies 'n' Quilts has a great quilt called
I have a dream, she also has a great one called Star Happy Quilts. These are scrappy quilts and great to use fabrics from your stash. I like her quilts because of the added interest, much better than all the stars being the same size. |

Go to Quilter's Cache. There are lots of different star patterns there in various sizes. You should be able to pick out some nice ones there and they are free.

I'm not sure if this qualifies as "must do' but I found a block called Duck Tracks on Quilter's Cache. It's pretty simple, but it was fun to make. (I used it in a baby quilt I made for a friend a few years ago.) |

My favorite is Sarah's Choice. It's really pretty and it's easy which suits me to a "T"
