I always pick the quilt design and THEN the fabrics. I think all of these fabrics would work on something scrappy.....but you'd more have to mix them together and add a few more. Use the white as a background and just about any scrappy pattern would work.
Strange...if you are designing your own, you should have pattern in mind for those swatches or it is not your "design" or do you just mean you want to use those swatches in your next quilt but don't know what pattern would work the best for them? So many books and mags to look thru for ideas....... |
The only way I can see these two combos in a single quilt would be a Dresden Plate quilt. The first group I don't think the dots fits with the others. I love the second group and could see many possibilities for the group of fabrics together.

Is this for a challenge quilt or what?
I like the top row - MINUS the multicolored dots - by itself I like the bottom row - MINUS the gray paisley - by itself - I would like the white, solids, and the dots from the top row together. Is this a test to see if all the responses will be "it's your quilt - whatever you want to do will be wonderful" ?? |

I agree with Candace. I think it is the grey & yellow that is the jarring fabric for me.
Perhaps a trip around the world? Cheers, K I agree!!!!! |

I'm gonna vote for 3 different quilts. One out of the first row (add more fabrics and make it scrappy), one out of the second row (same thing), but remove the gray paisley and start a new fabric collection for a third quilt using the gray paisley as the starting point.
Love that paisley! |
No challenge. My idea was to observe how different people react to the same color combinations :-) It has been an interesting and worthwhile exercise, particularly because I am new to this. Thank you for all your responses!!! Sometimes, I start with a pattern but then a lot of times I am just inspired by fabric and choose a design accordingly. And then sometimes, I just like to play with fabric (my favorite part) - trying out a technique or a pattern and it results into something.
