I just bought a pack of 12 at Tuesday morning for 7.99 and our wally world has them for $1, some are good quality some are not

I think it depends on the quality of the fabric. Very good fabric fat quarters, these days, cost from $2.25 to $2.50. Your cheaper fabrics can cost $1. If there is a sale going on, you might get great fabric FQs for less than usual going price. :D

Calculate what they would be at full yard price. anything less than that would be good if you want and need it.
At $1 each a yd would be $4 (simple math)
If they are the same price as yardage would be then it would be better to buy 1/4 yd cuts. I was at a fabric wholesale this week and they had fat quarters for $1.20 which would be $4.80 per yd. That was more than the wholesale bolt price of a lot of fabric so I passed it up.
I believe shops often add in an amount for the labor of cutting.

Yes - if it is good quality - that's a great price!

Yes $1.00 for a FQ is a good price. When Joann's or Hancock Fabric has a sale on FQ that is what they usually sell them at. Otherwise they are at least $1.50. At Quilt shops you will pay $2.50.

Wow wish i lived in the States,we can pay $6 doolars or more for a fat quarter!!!

For current stock $1.00 per, for closeouts, .50 each. Remember it takes 4 quarters to make a yard, and that means if you are paying 1.99 or more, the fabric would be better purchased by the yard. I only use these when I absolutely cannot find the color/pattern I need in regular stock.
