You folks who buy fat quarters amaze me. I just can't imagine buying a quarter of a yard of any fabric, so I really can't comment on the price.
That store looks wonderful! Of course, since the accident my brain has trouble making decisions and where going to Joann's used to excite me, now I dread it. There's just too many decisions to make.
I told my kids it's a good thing they have names, right now I couldn't decide which names to give them!

I live in North Yorkshire, England. Many of our FQs are £2.50 which converts to $3.95. We do have a shop in Scarborough (about 40 miles away) which sells fabric at £4 per yard which is really cheap for over here. It is also good quality. If I could buy FQs at 99cents I would think I had floated to heaven (in Eglish money that would be about 63 pence.) My daughter in law's dad lives in CA and if he comes over here for Xmas sometimes brings me a bundle form Joannes.

Don't be afraid to buy ANY fabric you like. That's one of the nice things about fat quarters. You can experiment and see how the fabrics act. Actual quilt stores often cut their own fat quarters. So if you really like a fabric after you use it you have a chance to go back and get more of it. Also by trying out the different fabrics you get a feel for what you like and what feels better. I love fat quarters.

And having said that. I just went back to JoAnn's and bought 7 yards of a fabric I liked(not originally a fat quarter) by Alexander Henry called "Everglades" (could have been called rainbow everglades). A 50% coupon let me get it for $4.50 a yrd instead of $9.

Yes that is a good price. It can run at $1.00 here when it is on sale and up to $2.50 a FQ when it is not on sale.

That is a very good price, I bought them from Joanns this weekend for $.99.... and that was on sale they are usually $1.99..... I went wayyyyyyy overboard

FQ at 1.00 is a great deal.

I found FQ's at Marshall fabrics in Lethbridge yesterday for 4 for $5, I didnt buy any, the also had children print FQ's for $.75.

Fabricland sells FQ's as well, batiks were $4 and the regular printed cottons are $2.99, the solids are $1.99 sometimes go on sale for $1, I buy them when they are on sale. :)

Don't you think it should depend on how the quality is? If it's a LQS quality it's a great buy. If you can see through it and it's stiff and scratchy feeling it's not worth much more than they're asking for it. It's hard to believe that any store would have top grade fabric in fat quarters and sell it for $1.00. Unless they're having a big sale. 8-)
