Ahhhhh yes... the blessed Half Square Triangle! :-)

Looks stunningly simple, yet can send the most seasoned quilter into a deep pit of madness! LOL

Lady of the Lake pattern is another Half-Square Triangle quilt.

I took a super simple triangles class, and our instructor showed us the different ways to make half square triangles. Of course, she saved the best till last. She introduced us to Triangles on a Roll. I had never heard of this. It's a roll of paper that has squares with dotted sewing lines on it. You put the squares of fabric right sides together under a square on the paper, and sew on the dotted line. Then you cut on the cutting line between the two dotted lines and voila! Perfect half square triangles! It's really neat, and now I wouldn't do them any other way.

The Triangles on a Roll rolls come in different sizes, and are pretty reasonable if you consider the aggravation and triangles you've thrown out because you're unhappy with them.

My LQS carries this, and they can also be found at

I don't work for this company nor do I have stock in it, I'm just one really grateful customer.

Thanks everyone, I should've figured that out. I was stuck on the idea it had to do with history (HST)!

Interesting about the rolls, Renee.

NTex,
Yes, it did show up and I really like it! It looks like houses in the corners.
Thanks for the good example of a HST quilt.
