What's to replace the 440 QE?

The Bernina 440 QE is no longer being made but I have heard another model is replacing it? Does anyone have any information about this? I love my 440 but was told I should trade it in before it loses too much value.

I have a 440 QEE as well and considered a trade in but then decided against it. I bought a 750QEE as my main machine but that 440 still calls my name. Also, it is portable, sort of, at least I can pack it up and take it to a class. My thought was as long as it is working well, why trade. Anyone I talk to about the 440 says to keep it and love it. That's my two cents.

Was it a Bernina dealer who told you to trade it in before it loses too much value? I have the 440 and intend to keep it as long as it runs.

I can't believe that someone told you to trade it it before it loses it value. I am still quilting on my Bernina 1530 because it is running fine.

I had a service call on my longarm last summer and the tech saw my 440 QE asked me how I liked it. Told him I loved it. He said the company he worked for used to sell Bernina but discontinued to handle only longarms. He said to hang on it it. It was one of the best machines they ever made. Newer ones aren't as good. I think the 550 replaced the 440 and is very similar. I looked at the new bigger ones, 750 & 850 and liked the lighting and they have a lot bigger bobbin but couldn't see spending the money basically for a bigger bobbin. I should add the sewing machine store I frequent said they can't keep the 550s on the floor. As soon as one comes in, it's gone.

Yes, that was the model, 550. It was a clerk at a LQS who said it was what she did but she was not in the machine sales at the shop. She said the embroidery modular would work on the 550. If I did get one I would keep my 440 and take it to camp for summer sewing.
Now that I know the model, does anyone have an opinion on the 550?
