What's on your Christmas list?

DH asked me last night what I would like for Christmas. I have so many things I'd like, that I didn't really know what to tell him. It did get me wondering, what are you hoping Santa brings you this year?

Treasureit 12-10-2012 05:26 PM

The only thing I want this year is E-Quilt 7 program. And praying I will enjoy it! Sometimes I think I want things and then they don't thrill me like I hoped...but this one is too expensive to not use...so I will learn...I will...yes!!

Mitch's mom 12-10-2012 06:44 PM

I asked for a Work Sharp knife sharpener, and 2 books on sewing machine attachments that had been languishing in my Wish List on Amazon for 2 years. He told me to order what I wanted so I threw in the Ball Complete Book of Canning - since he was feeling generous

Jackie Spencer 12-10-2012 07:17 PM

I got a new HE washer and dryer, that are stacked. The element went out in the dryer in my Apt. and the owner said get it fixed or buy a new one. I am on SS so that was'nt going to happen. I was so upset. When my ex-husband heard about it, he bought them for me. I can not tell you how surprised I was!!

Gramie bj 12-10-2012 08:40 PM

I just hate it when someone asks me what I want for Christmas! My mind just goes blank! Then two days after Christmas I will come up with something I really want! Oh well thats me a dollar short and a day behind! LOL

Bataplai 12-10-2012 08:51 PM

I asked for EQ7 and Blockbase, a few quilting books and patterns, and a porcelain coated cast iron dutch oven.

Scakes 12-10-2012 09:03 PM

I'm like Gramie bj - ask me what I want and my mind goes blank. :)

There is a pattern called Asian Scrappy Road that was in Quilters World Magazine in Oct 2011. That's the only thing that comes to mind. I will probably give it to myself. :) There's not really a lot I need. I'd be very happy with a pretty day and lots of time for sewing. I don't plan on cooking since it will only be my husband and me. Maybe I'll get my quiet day and can sew away.

My DH announced he is getting me a lovely snowblower for Christmas! Must be time to add more starch to his underwear:).

JustAbitCrazy 12-11-2012 01:36 AM

Hey, francie, I think it's also time to get him a longarm for Christmas! (Equivalent gift to the snowblower!)
As for me, I asked for a Quilter's Slidelock ruler, and dd ordered me one. Yay! I haven't made it to the er yet, so I thought my luck may be running out, and I better get one fast. Hope you all get something fun and useful1

ArtsyOne 12-11-2012 04:17 AM

Last year I got some Bali Pops along with the pattern to make a beautiful paper-pieced quilt. It was a great gift and I hope to get something similar this year. Also on my list are "staples" (dishwasher soap, coffee, toilet paper, etc.) so that I can spend more money on fabrics. Last year my daughter gave me a 24-pak of toilet paper and individually wrapped each roll and tied it with a ribbon. We're still laughing about it.

booklady1952 12-11-2012 06:00 AM

I spied a box with a new vacuum in it in the rear of my sweetie's SUV--how romantic!!!! (My old one still works just fine.)

annthreecats 12-11-2012 06:36 AM

I have a cone thread holder from Connecting Threads on my Christmas list for my sewing room. New tires for the car are needed, so my Christmas list isn't very long this year.

I keep the puzzle board up all year long as I sew a little and then go put a few pieces of the puzzle in, so I am getting a puzzle called "Cat on a quilt" by Doug Knudson. It also has an old singer treadle sewing machine in it. I found it on amazon and I can't wait to get it, but I won't start on it until after Christmas, I promise. Here is the website http://www.amazon.com/Quilt-1000pc-J...Cat+on+a+quilt

My DH once gave me a weed whacker for Mother's day. I accepted the gift quietly and got even for Father's day. The quilt shop I worked in had just got in an expensive quilting book that I really wanted so I gave it to him for Father's Day...never get mad, just get even! ;)

MamaO2011 12-11-2012 08:53 AM

Thankfully, DH hasn't given me anything I haven't asked for. He has bought a crock pot for me for Christmas before, but I did ask him for it. The handle broke on it last week, so Santa might have to bring me another if we can't fix that. He offered to just give me money so spend at a LQS, but I thought it'd be fun to give him some options and let him surprise me....I guess I'll have to think on it some more!

reginalovesfabric 12-11-2012 09:20 AM

I want gift cards to the fabric store and since today is my birthday I've gotten a $50 already

and I want Paula Deens red cookwear

jgriinke 12-11-2012 09:26 AM

I already have mine! I got the new Kindle Fire HD 8.9" ! I love it! I just don't know if he will surprise me with anything else.
Merry Christmas to all!

Becky Crafts 12-12-2012 07:13 AM

I want a Laura Ashley, Innov-is NX-2000 Brother sewing machine & I had saved over half of the cost myself, so my husband is going to get it for me as soon as we get a check he's expecting! The wait is killing me. I'm SO excited!!! Can't wait to bring it home and start using it! I downloaded manuals for it yesterday and there's 5 of them! That's a little intimidating, but at least I'll know the questions to ask when I get my class for it! :-) He's really outdone himself this year!! I must have been incredibly good all year! LOL!!

patchsamkim 12-12-2012 07:32 AM

My Christmas list is simple...Peace on Earth...and gift certificates...to Kohl's or to quilting shops.

hisgrace1 12-12-2012 07:56 AM

LOL.....now that will work....

romanojg 12-12-2012 08:20 AM

I told my daughter the same thing that I used to tell my ex; fix my house for me. I can buy (as long as I have the money) what I want but I can't do the repairs needed around my house. Mostly due to my ex's half way of fixing things. My daughters boy friend just painted my living room the way I wanted and fixed my cieling fan and my outlets and is trying to do what ever he can to make me happy. I told him I couldn't aske for more and that he'll never know how happy he has made me. He says its nothing, I told him its the best gift he could give. I could never get this thru my ex's head. Gifts are whatever makes someone happy and they don't have to be bought from a store. The best gifts are definitely when you do something that needs to be done for someone who can't do it or afford to pay someone to do it themselves. My two youngest kids (early 20's) know me so well they don't even ask. Which I love as well. It's so nice right now when I go home and can look at my living room and just smile at what this young man has done for me. He has severe asthma so it's been hard on him doing this work and it takes longer than normaly but he does what he can when he can.

Christmas will be quiet for us this year...I really can't think of anything I want or need.....our daughter was married in September, so we enjoyed our gift early this year....a son in law!!!! Other than that....just want to spend Christmas quietly with family....sad my dauther and son in law can't be with us this Christmas.....she is a nurse and will be working (not to mention they live 6 hours from us!!!) Merry Christmas to all!!!!!

Three Dog Night 12-12-2012 08:45 AM

Don't want to sound like a "goody two shoes" but after my sons and husband kept asking and I kept thinking my wish is for my family to be together and whatever they would spend on me I wanted them to give it to a charity. After I told this to my husband he agreed the he wanted the boys to do the same. We are very lucky at this time of our life to be able to buy what we want when we need it but we have been on the other end where we had no income coming in at Christmas (all our gifts were homemade with what we had on hand). So we will have a big dinner with family and friends and that is all I really want. Don't think there aren't things that I could come up with on a want list, just this year it isn't important. Hope this wasn't a downer of a post. Wishing you and your's a Merry Christmas.

nygal 12-12-2012 09:04 AM

I asked for a bread making machine and bread machine cookbook and a few Thomas Kinkade prints. But we just had the transmission rebuilt in our SUV and hubby is picking it up today. So that sure has put a big dent in our wallets. But I will be happy with anything. I pretty much buy what I want thru out the year. I really want to focus on CHRIST in CHRISTmas.

If you get your bread machine go to King Arthurs web site; lots of recipes, even if you don't get one. I have the zorishki (sorry not the right spelling) I love it. I've had several others and this is the second one I've had with this brand and when the first one went out I got another one. Alot of bread makers you can make jams jellies, cakes lots of good stuff. This one has a preheat so my liquid is always the right temp for the yeast and it turns out great. Good luck and have a blessed Merry Christmas

Santa came early this year and sent me the Asian Scrappy Road pattern I wanted. Wasn't that sweet? I won't get to work on it for a while but it will be fun collecting fabrics to go with the ones I already have. Thanks "Santa".

LOL, Francis - don't feel bad. I gave birth to our 2nd daughter (23 years ago) and got a new Husqvarna chain saw!! At least you will have a clean driveway!!

An update to my Christmas list...

We have been given a Combi Boiler - not a Vailliant, but a good quality, 6 month old, surplus to requirements, boiler. Heating engineer is coming in on Tuesday to fit it, and by Tuesday night we should have a working boiler and a warm house! Hurrah!

SO all I really "want" for Christmas is books...

Having said that, the recent events in Connecticut make everything else seem insignificant. Even the idea of a warm house seems like a luxury, when there are so many families grieving over the most pointless and inexplicable loss of life. Our thoughts here in the UK are with those that have lost thier children, friends and relatives: many here remember our own, similar tragedy at Dunblane and the devastation it caused. No words of comfort are adequate, but know that we stand with you and offer our thoughts, prayers and wishes.

This is me too. DD #1 was married in August and we flew her and new SIL home for an early Christmas last week. They are 30+ hours drive away (and that's just driving, no time for sleeping or eating!) I will miss her on Christmas Day, but it was SO nice to have them here for just a little while. We will be celebrating Christmas here with the rest of the family on Christmas Eve, so I am looking forward to a nice quiet Christmas with DH and DD #2 who's still at home. I may even have time to sew, just for the fun of it. That would be a lovely Christmas gift.

sewnsewer2 12-15-2012 03:54 PM

All I want for Christmas if for my son to find a job!

peaceandjoy 12-15-2012 05:33 PM

LOVE the wrapped TP - as well as the reciprocal gifts to husbands, lol. What were they thinking?? I don't like my DH to get me gifts - he is famous for finding something "like" what I asked for but less expensive. If there's something I really want, I'd rather have money toward it and pay the rest myself than something that is really not what I wanted. An example: Instead of a wool Icelandic sweater, I got a cardigan from K-mart. It's not that he couldn't afford the one I wanted, just doesn't see the point in spending the money.

I am thrilled we will be spending the day with our DD's and the older one's fiance. As they live 5 hrs away, and younger DD is away at college, I don't often have everyone in the same place, so that is what I really wanted. My family doesn't seem to get it, though - they nag for gift lists.

After struggling I came up with a quilting magazine subscription for Quiltmaker - Bonnie Hunter has a column every month and I love her patterns. Also the American Patchwork 2013 quilt calendar. Both were $20-ish, so within the girls budgets. Might add that puzzle that was linked previously, it's darling!

IAmCatOwned 12-15-2012 06:37 PM

I don't actually need anything. I have it all - too much of it. I even have the new ipod dock so that I can listen to my audiobooks. Ok.. I could use an endless supply of seam rippers. Always losing the darn things.
