Colorado is loaded with wonderful quilt shows of all kinds and I feel so fortunate there are plenty within driving distance. There is a Mancuso show every May for the Denver National Quilt Show, over 400 quilts. Another example is the quilt show every other year at the state capital in Denver. Colorado Quilting Council sponsors a Quilt-A-Fair in the fall...a good portion of the vendors are local. I could go on! I did attend the International Quilt show in Houston in 2010...definitely a wonderful experience....one item checked off my mental bucket list! You will find a wealth of shows you can attend all over USA, smile.

I've been to big shows and small group shows and have to say I much prefer the smaller shows. Having said that I must admit I was excited when I went to my first "big" show.

I've never been to a big quilt show, and we don't have a local showing here, unless you count the ones at county fairs. I do have a favorite one, though, in Bozeman, MT. Jane Quinn of Quilting In The Country, has her Quilts In The Garden show in August. It's not big, just fun, and I'm hoping to get out in August again soon.

I'd have a hard time choosing. Portland has three somewhat large shows every year, and of course I don't miss any of them. I've been to Paducah once and to Houston once. Both shows were fabulous, but they were both very different. Paducah has a very different feel and flavor from Houston. It's a much smaller town, people are super friendly, there are so many different quilt-related things to see and do in Paducah, not just the quilt show. On the other hand, Houston is one gigantic show, everything located in one spot. Many very good dining choices located within walking distance of the convention center. I loved both shows!!

I think Des Moines, Iowa and Nancy Zieman's sponsored show in Madison WI have been pretty good. Thought to try the one in Minnesota this year. Has anyone been to it?

T have not been to the big quilt shows. I made it to Sisters, OR and loved that one. My friends who travel more easily than I do tell me all the big shows are marvelous.

Hampton Roads quilt show is great; lots of venders with lots of new things and some interesting classes. Raleigh is the one that I like to take classes at because they supply the machines so that I dont have to lug them around. Last yr I took a FMQ class and it was on the Viking Ruby which was the machine that I owned at that time. To me that was great. They don't have as many venders but the show is for all sewing so the vendors are for quilting and making clothes, etc and so are the classes. Hampton Roads is closer to home and I'll go everyday. I have to travel a few hours to Raleigh but my friend lives there and we go together. It's great to be able to share this experience with a friend because at home only my daughter and 6yr old grandson like to go with me. I love taking my grandson; he ask more questions than I do. I've also heard by many that the Hershey PA show is great plus lots of local things to see.

I am still mourning the loss of the International Quilt show in Chicago, they moved it to Cincinatti .. It is the same organizer as Houston. I highly recommend either Houston or Cincinatti.
