When do you bury your threads?
When machine quilting, at what point do you bury your threads? During the machine quilting process (bury as you go)?, or at the end when you are done with all the quilting? And is there an advantage to doing it one way or the other, or is it just a preference?

I pull my threads all to the top, when finished with machine quilting I then take care of the threads

Depends on whether the ends will be in the way of further quilting, for example if changing thread color and working close to a previously quilted area.

I cross my fingers and hope for the best and snip them off where ever they are. I have scissors on my machine and I always forget to not use them.

I quilt on the longarm, and I try to bury them before I roll the quilt, sometimes sooner if they're in the way.

I pull my threads to to the top also, and then finish them off by bury them when I am done with quilting and binding.

If you bury as you go it doesn't seem quite so overwhelming if you have a lot of starts and stops...

Great question. I have a new midarm and have been wondering the same thing.

I never knot and bury them until the quilting is done and the quilt is off the frame, because I find sometimes there is a loop, knot or slack on the backside of the quilt, which needs to be dealt with before the ends are knotted, buried and cut. I wish I could do them as I go, because sometimes it's a bit overwhelming to do all at once at the end, not to mention anticlimatic. I recently had 11 hours spent knotting and burying threads on a custom quilt---not even my own!! Not my favorite thing to do......
