When do you consider it finished?
When do you consider a quilt finished? Is it when the piecing is finally done on the top? When it's quilted and bound and labeled. When it's been gifted? To me, a quilt isn't done until it's been actually quilted by hand or machine, and the binding has been finished.
I currently have two tops pieced and am waiting to find the perfect backing...so these aren't finished to me. Realize that different strokes for different folks applies here, but I really love seeing the completely finished product because how it's quilted can really enhance what we make. Please don't tell me I'm alone in this feeling? |
I'm with you! Same thing :)

I do tend to stall out once a top is pieced & completely sewn, so a flimsy languishes for a while in my home. But, it nags at me so I eventually back, quilt, & bind it. Then & only then do I consider it finished. Plus, the nagging stops & I feel free to start another top.

Nope! You are not alone! It's finished when it's ready to go out the door.

It is finished after the binding is on.
It is completely finished after it has a label attached and had its first wash. |
After the quilting, binding and laundering it is finished for me. I consider the wash/ dry step to be the final step to completion.

It's truly finished when the label is on it. I have let too many slip out the door without a label.

I usually would consider a quilt finished when the last stitch of the binding is finished. However only on a rare occasion would a quilt leave this house without some kind of labeling. I then to OCD about things so once a quilt top is finished I am in a hurry to get it finished even if it only lays across the end of a bed.
