When do you usually start your Christmas quilts? Do you work on on them all year or just in the fall or closer to the holiday?

Bed quilts - July. Gifts - September

This is the first year I've planned a quilt as Christmas gift. Purchased 30 embroidered tractor blocks, ordered John Deere fabric and I am in the process of designing this little jewel. This is for my precious son-in-law.

late october early november. This year might be different, I am thinking (again) that I may make my 3 nephews and niece christmas quilts.

Usually in July; I like to have them ready by December 1, so it depends on the size. I like to make a few full or queen size, lap size and wallhangings.

All year long, as a project presents itself.

Right now I am making a train quilt for my grandson, lighthouse quilt for my son & wife, fishing quilt for DH, my daughter is still open.

We make and sell Christmas quilts all year long at our shop. After many people asking about them during the off seasons, we decided to make them, and not only Christmas quilts, but other holiday quilts sell year round.

I started in February.

NOW,NOW,NOW.... lol I need to follow my advice

I've already started. You never know when something will come up and you can't sew for awhile.

I made two Christmas quilts right after the holidays.
It was still cold and very snowy and I'm glad they are finished now that the sun is shining almost daily.
I made a wall hanging too. Now they are all put away for this Christmas. (unless my daughter sneaks one home)

I think the Christmas fabric comes out in June, so if you don't get it then, you don't get any! :| Ask me how I know! I'm really not in the Christmas mood at that time, but this year I have vowed to get in gear and get some!

I have been making a Christmas in July quilt for the last 4 years, they are for ME!! I make lots of Christmas quilts and other projects for gifts, usually starting in Sept, but I never had time to make Christmas projects for myself until I hit upon the idea of setting July aside for a personal Christmas present from me to me.

Very funny and also very true!
