If the poster would give the pattern name, the source of it and any other info needed to make it ( how made, PP'd etc.). I just read a post where 7 people asked what a pattern was and there was never an answer given on 9 pages. You know these questions are going to be asked, so please give this info in your post. Thank you..Thank you.

Great idea!

GGinMcKinney 03-16-2011 06:02 PM

Would save a lot of time trying to read to see if answer was ever posted. Great suggestion.

CloverPatch 03-16-2011 06:02 PM

Here! here! i second that notion with great emotion!!!
Will have to remember to do that myself!

lhavelka 03-16-2011 06:06 PM

I wish everyone would start doing that too, it sure would save alot of time and effort trying to find out what the pattern was etc. Hope this gets around for everyone to see

Lori S 03-16-2011 06:12 PM

That's a great suggestion !

C.Cal Quilt Girl 03-16-2011 06:14 PM

That's not a bad idea, have had some started 1-2 years before finishing, have no clue where the original pattern came from..... KWIM

I never ask those questions and I wouldn't want to have to write all that down so I could type it in. I've only had a couple of people ask me that and I answered them. I think a better thing would be to PM the person and ask them.
Just my thoughts.

Doesn't matter. You can answer the same question half a dozen times and nobody reads the answer anyway.

Cause we or I uncheck watched topic, then they get lost.
or not all of the topic is read before anwsering, get a kick out of when anwser is on pg3 and 5 more pages of anwsers and suggestions. (my bad) :)

That's a great suggestion but only works if you actually use a pattern! Which I have not done so far (except for the blocks in the Oriental fabric block swap). I'm sure that there are patterns out there that correspond to what I've done, I just did my own thing and didn't bother to find out the names of the blocks. And the couple of times I asked if anyone knew what the pattern was on a quilt I posted a picture of that my MIL had made I didn't get much of an answer.

NikkiLu 03-16-2011 06:53 PM

Maybe some people do not want to give out that information - but have just posted a picture of their quilt for everybody to look at.

MaryStoaks 03-16-2011 06:55 PM

Good point, something I'll try to remember.

craftybear 03-16-2011 07:09 PM

yes, great idea and if they find the pattern online to give us a link when they post rest of the information, thanks everyone

Very true, I know I posted a link twice in one of mine, and still have fellow wonderful quilters asking about the quilt. I gladly reply back each time asked :)

AMEN SISTER!!!!!! You can post the answer and the NEXT post will ask the information. :hunf: I say if you can't be bothered to read the previous posts to see if the question was answered, you don't deserve an answer. And if you "...just don't have time to read every post..." don't ask.

btiny36 03-16-2011 09:46 PM

As a rule, when I post a picture, I usually include the size, the name of the pattern and if I found it in a magazine and which one or it's a bought pattern...

btiny36 03-16-2011 09:49 PM

Very true alot will ask (me included before reading all the posts:oops: ) but if we were to put the information in the orginal post with picture then it would in the very first post when people click on unread topics...hope I explained that correctly...

Well, the NEXT post was often being written at the same time as the one before it. I often write a comment, answer, or praise, only to see that another post (saying the same thing I just said), got thru first. I would love to see size, technique, and pattern or inspiration included with apic, but I'll be happy to have the pretty pics alone if that's all the quilter has the time/inclination to post.

raedar63 03-17-2011 03:36 AM

This has been asked before and is a terrific idea. Let's focus on the positive and try to do this.Instead of saying to heck with it right from the get go. Speaking for myself this helps greatly. I have horrible ADD and am even medicated to function .( Was misdiagnosed for years as depression, finally found a doc that would listen) For me sometimes when I see a post with say 6-7 pages my mind goes into overdrive. It is not that I wont take time to read the post Because I do very often. It would just save a lot of frustration.

ptquilts 03-17-2011 03:46 AM

I can't think of a quilt I have made that has a pattern - all just traditional blocks or my own ideas.

noahscats7 03-17-2011 08:25 AM

When this is the case if you just say that it is an original it would cover the need to ask the questions. And to the poster who said they don't want to be asked about it, I consider it a compliment to the poster to stir someone enough to want to make one for themselves. MHO
