WHY WHY WHY!!!! You can have every color of the rainbow in thread but start to quilt something and I'll be darn if I have something close to use. And the nearest place is JoAnns and that is 40 minutes away. AAAHHHHH!!!!!!

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 12-11-2009 11:57 AM

LOL! And how can there be so many shades of the same color and some just look BAD next to each other??

Ms Grace 12-11-2009 12:10 PM

Poor thing. I hate when that happens.
I'm also about 30 minutes away from the nearest LQS.
That's why I just ordered 30+ spools of different color threads from Connecting Threads.
Surely I'll be able to match close enough to what I'll be sewing.

Well....while you are there....there is always all of that fabric to look at........ Aren't they having another sale this weekend??? :D:D:D

I hate when that happens! When there is a quilt show I am planning on going I TRY to see what I might be getting ready to quilt and try to add to my thread collection. I take my color charts with me and I have checked all that I have already. You know there is ALWAYS something that comes up and we don't have the color we would like, or not enough to finish. :)

Can't go wrong with that strategy. They have good prices and excellent thread.

Yea I just saw the sale at JoAnns. Hmmmm. I am headed to Tampa for the weekend and have already scoped out the quilt shops there. But I may also check out Connecting Threads as I have heard so much about it and try it out. The funny thing is what I need is either black or a medium blue which are colors I should have but don't.

I have almost every color Connecting Threads has and even then I have had a hard time matching up an exact color!

Boston1954 12-11-2009 04:29 PM

I just use white most of the time. You're talking about the hand quilting, right?

There is a 40% off sale at Connecting Threads online now, but I think the actual thread was on sale for 30% off.

Only the thread kits are 30% off -- (my new kits are ordered and on their way here at this very moment!)

I have had the exact same problem when I go to finish the binding on a quilt that has come back from the long arm quilter. If I have ten shades of blue, none of them will be right.
