Last year my husband and I went on a road trip around Canada and the States. The deal was that he played golf courses that he saw and I visited quilt shops. That was a great deal. I filled the RV with fabriics and notoions that we can't get here in the UK easily. However the trip came to an abrupt end when My DH really injured himself in a parachuting accident near Boston. A month in hospital and then a flight back to the UK meant that I had to leave lots behind on the RV which is parked up in Ohio. We will get back one day soon. Fabric doesn't matter, the fact that my DH is alive is the best! However I must add that I am back to quilting now that he is able to get around on crutches.

Oh my, Purple, I'm glad your DH will be all right. Too bad about the fabric. Will your fabric be there for you? or was it a rental? I know DH comes first, BUT fabric is a close second runner.

If you have your fabric shipped to your home - I THINK you do not have to pay sales tax on it - - - may want to check it out...

I love Cottonweeds too! lots2do |
my husband and I travel every summer on our motorcycles and I do fabric shop every chance I get. Many shops will ship my fabric for me to my home, othersw I need to make a post office stop and mail things myself. It is great fun seeing the different shops across the country!

I don't know which comes first looking for quilt shops or looking for the bathroom when I get there.   |
A few years back, before my quilting days! I went with 2 of my sisters to California for a book keeping class. Well my BIL and I went shopping! He took me downtown to the garment district! I never saw so much goodies in my life. Everything just piled up every where for sale. Well, I had taken an empty suitcase to bring "other" goodies home in. But, boy howdy, let me tell you, when I saw all the fabrics and etc there, some were just not leave behinds! My husband said you went all the way there to buy fabrics? Well, why not? Too good to pass up. He got a big kick out of that! What I would not give to be able to go there now knowing what little I do about quilting. Just a funny little story!

Absolutely! I did a Quilt Shop Quest last summer on the Central Coast of CA. Check it out on my blog under August 2009.

We bought the RV so it is still there. I packed the fabric away very carefully. We are hoping to get back out there sometime this year. Thanks for your kind words.
