when the quilt is finished, do you put fabric softner in the rinse or is it harmful to quilts?
I hope it's not harmful, I do it all the time. Never noticed a problem. :)
I use fabric softener on everything and know my kids will too. It hasn't hurt any of mine.
Only caution might be if you are going to give it to someone who might be allergic to the fabric softener.
I use it too!
I use it too!! Throw in a color catcher or two in case there are any loose dyes!!!
I always use vinegar in the rinse water.
I don't use a softener. Some people seem to be allergic to it.
I never use fabric softener. I have very sensitive skin.
I can't use softener anymore. I am slightly allergic and my DD is fairly allergic to it. if you use a detergent that is "natural" or homemade the wash usually comes out really soft. At least that is what I have found. Unless you have really bad water.
If you can't use the commercial softners, vinegar in the final rince makes the fabric softer. I believe it deactivates or eliminates any soap residue left in the fabric. I have tried it and it does make a differance.

I always use a softener that is dye and perfume free. My DD has too many chemical alergies.
I don't use softener in my fabric wash. I have read not to if you are going to use the iron on fusible as it may keep it from fusing. I know I have read that, but cannot remember where I read it. LOL My poor mind some days is just poof!
