Can any of you please tell me where to begin quilting a quilt? at one end or in the middle? I am new to quilting.

In the middle. Or that's what I've been told, and what I did on the first one. That way the back and front line up right. Just make sure to baste (I used safety pins) and make sure the back is flush with the top. I don't know if this is always true, but I would imagine so. Are you doing it by hand?

For Beginners - If you use safety pins to baste your quilt, the Kwik Klip is a great tool to open and close the pins. It helps keep your fingers from getting sore. The Quilter's Delight pin covers are also helpful. Check out this site:

The back and the batting should be 2 inches all around bigger than the top when you quilt. After you have finished quilting, trim the edges back and square up the corners.

I've always been told to first baste from the center out & quilt from the center out. Be sure your backing, batting & top are smooth, with no folds or "bubbles" so it will be nice & flat when you're done :D

That is exactly how I was taught, and it makes sense.

If you use safety pins to baste, invest in the curved basting pins. They are so easy to bring back up through the fabric. Some of the members use basting spray, and they seem to be happy with it. I've never used it, but I think I'll get some.
