this is one of the important parts of making this quilt, Getting the right shades of fabric for each color.
If by "shades" you mean "contrast", then I agree. I've seen several Labyrinth Walk quilts in all different colors of fabric (google "images of Labyrinth Walk Quilt" for examples :thumbup: ) and the best, most successful quilts used high contrast fabrics.
