Where to buy threads?

Hi Guys,

My sweet DD has been having a bit of a difficult time lately (grandson has medical issues) and she is really missing home (she lives over with you all in the USA), so DH and I decided to buy her the sewing and embroidery machine that she couldn't afford with all the medical co-pays that they have to pay.... especially now that DGS has to have more brain surgery... anyway, her machine will be delivered on Sunday, but I don't know where is the best place online for her to get some embroidery thread. I would be grateful for any help and advice.

Hugs

Caroline

It might depend on the machine -- some machines work best with a specific type of thread. You might check the Superior Thread website. There is a lot of information there. What a nice thing to do for your daughter. She will certainly enjoy her machine.

When you do machine embroidery you need a large variety of thread. As a beginner I bought thread kits. Luckily I live fairly close to Sewing Machines Plus and was able to see them in person. Here is the website: www.sewingmachinesplus.com/thread-kits.php.

When I bought my machine I didn't realize it and just bought a few colors to get me started. When I saw the kits I was so excited. I ended up buy 3 different kits - none of them overlapped and now I just fill in when I am making something specific.

I love using embroidery thread for my MFQ and I get mine from: http://www.metroemb.com/store/. They have excellent prices and customer service.

Just another thought, if she is new to the embroidery she will need stablizer. If you are ordering her thread, you might want to include some stablizer.

I would get her a sampler from http://metroemb.com/store/ mentioned above. Wherever you purchase the thread, it would be a good idea to include a color chart in the package.

I agree that she will also need stabilizer. I would get her a variety of stabilizers in small amounts so she can try the different ones out to see what she likes best.

Another great place to buy embroidery thread and stabilizers is http://www.bobbincentral.com/quiltin...ead/glide.html but there are a lot of different kinds of embroidery threads there.
