This has been an interesting conversation. I checked out some of the links suggested. When I get ready to try paper piecing, I think I'll go with the "Quilt on a roll" -- can't beat the price. Who knows, maybe I'll order it now & it will be there when i decide to try it! Thanks!

X-pedX is a paper company here in SLC UT and I've bought vallum there. Would think you could get it at any office supply. But old telephone books, magazines, recycle stuff can do just as well. The only thing about vellum you can see through it if you're doing paper piecing. Some people use sandwich wrap from Sams Club or the other store. When paper piecing came out I got excited; thought I'd do well, but some days I cut what should stay and leave the rest. Good luck!

Don't know if anyone has suggested this site: www.silverliningsoriginals.com The paper is PP Vellum and goes for $9.00 for 36 sheets (8 1/2" by 11") plus shipping I would assume. This might be priced too high for you but it is suppose to be good to use. She also sells a great variety of pp patterns and, if you sign up for her newsletter, you get a free pattern each month in the newsletter. She does a series for the year. Just finished up Wee Water Ones and just starting Treasures of the Rain Forest for 2011. Hope someone can use this information.

try using some tissue paper easy to see thru, and wont damage ur needle as much...but u will still have to replace them...

I use sandwich paper that restaurants wrap their sandwiches,etc..........I stack 10 or so with the design on the top, staple in a couple of places......then with the thread removed from the machine......I stitch over ALL the lines of the design......then as I take each "page" off the stack, I number them. Works just fine. I usually get mine at a restaurant supply store.

Go to an office supply store and get 19 lb paper its what we use
for our PP. Just buy a box thats what my friends do
Also newspaper paper is a good weight with out the print. And if your Dr will give you a roll of paper that he uses to cover up the tables with. its then and works good
The 19 lb paper is the best because it will go through the printer.

The lighter paper is easier to get off. IO did have trouble with Carol Doak's paper in my printer. For some unknown reason, the blocks were not printed accurately, off anywhere from a 1/4" to 1/2". So whatever you use check your measurements.
