I am self taught. I went to a few classes a couple years ago, but really didn't learn much. It was more of a gab session.
I went to quilterscache.com, printed off patterns, learned by lots of practice and patience and mistakes, and can actually call myself a quilter now! LOL |
My friend Pat and I took our first quilting class at Quilters Heaven in Fredericksburg, VA. This was October-November 1998.
I was not interested in quilting--no one in my family quilted. We did other needle crafts, but not quilting. But Pat always wanted a nice homemade bed quilt so we took the course together--we did everything together. Best time and investment ever. Wonderful teacher and I have my class 4 block lap quilt on the back of a chair in my family room to this day. No rotary cutter, no sewing machine--everything was done by hand. I like to look at it now and then to see how bad I was. Since then I have taken other day classes to learn new techniques, but my first class was one day a week for two month--as I said we really learned a lot. Barbara in FL, formerly of VA |
