Where do you get your wool?
I would like to make the "Love Blooms" quilt in Quilters newsletter. But I don't know where to purchace wool for making the applique. I've checked some of the usual online fabric places and can't find wool fabric. Our local lqs has some. But the colors seem limited and I don't want a bland quilt. Do you ladies and gents have any suggestions where to look?

You can go to the second hand store and look for wool clothes. The wool will need to be " felted" to make it suitable for appliqué. To felt wool, it is washed in very hot water and dried.

Thank you Tartan. I haven't had much luck with the second hand stores either. And I didn't know it needed to be felted. Maybe I am searching for the wrong thing. Should I be searching for felted fabric?

perhaps you could post your request in In Search Of... maybe there's a member who has some they would sell or trade

check out this site if you are interested in felting your own. http://mylifeonthedivide.blogspot.co...u-want-to.html |
This is where I get mine...yummy. They sell it for rug braiding and hooking, quilting, garments, or just plain wrapping yourself up in and purring. :o

Primitive Gatherings, Woolen Willow have websites and most quilt shops carry woolen felt & wool batting.

Does the pattern give you any info on the wools they used? By brand?

I live near a Pendleton factory. Maybe check to see if you have any outlet stores or mills in your area? You will find some VERY inexpensive mill ends!

Here are a few excellent sources:
