Where do you look for a material if its discontinued
I tried searching before posting. Would people be willing to share where you search for "sold out" or discontinued fabric other than ebay?
Thanks in advance! I'm sorry if this is a repeat question! |
I am usually most successful by finding the fabric on the manufacturer's website, then searching by the sku listed there, along with the name of the fabric line. The search engines work equally well on all sites; it's just a matter of using the best combination of search terms.
Another thought is to try the designer. Oftentimes the designer will have a bolt or two sitting around, and I've had 2 or 3 who have been happy to sell me a yard. |
You can sometimes find it on missingfabrics.com. Post a picture of the fabric you want and someone may have just what you want.

Etsy! Great place to find discontinued fabrics.
|
I go to Thousands of Bolts, Marshall's Dry Goods, Whittle.

I too, shop on Etsy for hard to find fabrics.

I've had success with both MissingFabrics and Etsy.
You can also put a request in the In Search of section here! |
Quiltshops.com

Etsy and Ebay although I just went crazy looking for a fabric and a lovely quilter on this board sent me what I needed (and more!).
Go to the section for that right here. Good luck! |
So far everyone has covered my first few recommendations - I have one other thing I do - take a picture or scan a piece then google the image. Sometimes you can get random hits on fabric for sale where the owner doesn't know what the fabric is.
Since you are in NH - another option might be either Franks Bargain Center in Claremont or Mardens in Sanford Maine. Their stock is older and they might have it. If you have the manufacturer and fabric line - Phil at Franks can probably tell you on the phone if he has it. Good luck!! |
