where to embroider cat eye!

I used this cat silhouette in a quilt and want to embroider an eye on it. (Found on http://www.freequiltpatterns.info/qu...lt-company.htm)

I've tried several different places to put an eye but none of them look right! Can someone with some artistic ability please help. I am using two threads of embroidery floss and trying to hand stitch a crescent shape (or something) to represent one eye. Thanks for any help!

Using a ruler, put one end at the tip of the nose and go straight back from there and put a chalk mark under the ear about an inch and 1/2 down. See if it look right and if not rub out the chalk mark and try again. It might help to Google some cat images.

Try marking on a paper template using the instruction Tartan gave you. When it looks right, cut a hole in the paper to chalk mark through.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did Google cat images, but I couldn't seem to translate it to my quilt block :)

Yes, thank you! I should have attached a photo of my own block--I didn't realize the image I posted was copyrighted and would be deleted.
