where to get quilting frame
 

I am really wanting to get a quilting frame. But don't know the best place to purchase one. I would even be willing to make one, if i had a blueprint. Could someone help me in the right direction.

you didn't say whether you want a hand quilting frame or a machine quilting frame---there are many in both catogories to choose from---just search---either 'hand quilting frames' or machine quilting frames.

are you thinking about the old fashioned frames that would sit on saw horses or hang from the ceiling?

If so. Mountain Mist had directions at one time.
Another is just 4 boards at 1"x3" and C clamps.

Very often you can find the old ones at yard sales or antique/junk shops.

I ordered my Hinderberg in pieces. Hubby stained them and we went to Lowe's and had piping cut for the size I wanted and then we put it all together. It's less expensive to do it that way...less shipping too. Do a search for them online.

While I love the larger ones, it's hard to find space for them. I'd want a hoop on a stand that I can move around and it doesn't take up much space. I have one that I bought at a quilt show probably 15 yrs ago and i've not seen another one like it. It is similar to the pvc floor frames found at JoAnn's, but the legs are metal and the frame part is wooden w/ screws that tighten in opposite corners.

If this is want you want be sure when you buy the boards that you get a soft one otherwise you will have a heck of a time to get your thumb tacks in. This is the type of frame I use all the time.

Walmarts that still have their fabric dept have the stands and most have the hoops. Mine is a big floor frame that my Pop made for me. I got the plans at Keepsake Quilting.
