Where will I find this information?

I know pretty well what fat quarters and fat eights are. I know what Jelly Rolls are and what charm packs are, but can anyone give me a list of the various other pre-cuts.

What I am actually looking for is what the 1.5" strips are called and who sells them. I was pretty sure I had found what I wanted when I watched a tutorial for log cabin recently, but I can't find that now. 8-(

Who wants to be the brave one and point me to the names of all the pre-cuts?

The 1.5" strips are HoneyBuns.

Here's a start:

Even better - you can print the .pdf for future reference:
http://www.unitednotions.com/equivalent-measures.pdf

This is from Moda's Bake Shop.

Just keep in mind that the # of pieces in each bundle can vary across companies, or chain stores, or a LQS making their own version.

Always check the qty when buying, especially if it's for a specific pattern.

Wonder if some company will offer "confetti" made up of little tiny scraps?

The same pre-cut will have different names from different companies. Moda trademarked several of the names so the same pre-cut from a different company will have a different name.

I was thinking same thing but she called it "Crackers" which I've never heard.

I used to work at a Quilt Shop, she closed her brick and mortar shop and is now on-line only, just before she did that Moda stopped making the honey buns. Other copanies may have them, but Moda does not.

SandiGrove 11-15-2012 01:58 PM

I believe Moda is bringing the honey buns back

Mini Charm Packs (Moda) 2.5" x 2.5" (also called Moda Candy)
Bali Pops (Hoffman) 2.5" x 44"
Twice the Charm (RJR) 5.5" x 21"
Jolly Packs (Fat Quarter Shop exclusive) 5" x 5"

Don't forget each company calls these cuts by a different name.

I actually searched the Moda line to see if I could tell what all they advertised, and I could not find the honey buns either by that name or by the 1.5" cut. Then when I went back to see the link, it would not come up for me.

I wish they would. I'm a spinner and it would mix wonderfully for added interest in some of the yarns I make. What a great idea. A long time ago, I forget which company, but I got a bag of mixed thread ends swept up from a cutting room. They were GREAT! But predominantly red. So some blues, purples and other colors would be great! I'm hoping 'they' listen to you :)

I now use this ruler to create my own 'jelly rolls' etc as I was fed up with pre-cut (even Moda) inaccuracies, bowed middles and those damned pinked edges.

Thanks for the info! I downloaded and printed the Moda Bake Shop pdf then wrote the other mentioned measurements on that page. It's good information to have.

Thanks MTS, for the link to the pdf with the names and sizes of the various pre-cuts.

Great Video...I have made fringe scrafs using June taylor ruler. Very easy.
