Im trying to find the serial number on the treadle I got last week and I cant find it anywhere. Also, I think it works, appears to when I use the treadle but I havent got the foggiest idea how to thread it and the bobbin/shuttle thing has me totally stumped! Ive tried looking online and cant find any info at all. Its a Franklin "Scarab" and from what I can find its probably made by the Domestic Sewing Machine Co. I cant lift it up and look under it because when you lift the top it comes up by itself, instead of lifting it up. I crawled inside, well, tried to and looked around and didnt see a number anywhere. Any ideas anyone?

There are also a great many vintage machine online groups that could help you. Google for them (start with the Yahoo groups).

Ok, now to help answer your other questions about the machine, i took pics of my original owners manual for mine it tells where to oil it and how to thread the machine and wind the bobbin.
