all these years, i have been just putting all the whites together.
a month or so ago, i put all the WOW's together by pattern.

but the muslins,i just kept them all together, not even giving it a second thought..yikess! Now i am looking for some white bleached muslin for some 3" - 9 patch blocks, and don't want to buy any..and what a mess! i can't figure out by looking at them all, which ones are the same.
i have roc lon (?) muslin/kona muslin/white kona,Joanns white muslin..all in bits and pieces to small to toss!
i just got my quilt back from the quilters today, and she sent the kona muslin she cut off.. and right away i put it in a zip lock and put a sticky note in with it.."Kona Muslin" !

am i all alone in this?! have you thought about it?

I don't buy plain white, so I don't have this problem.

you don't use white muslin for backs or for blocks? i like to use it in some blocks..old fashioned looking ones..Kona White is my favorite to use. I still use muslin for most of my backings..but i use different kinds..i love tea dyed muslin too..thats east to spot in my mess!

I have very little white or WOW. Most of my quilts are scrappy so a mixed bag of whites is not a problem. When I need a certain amount for a project, I go out and buy it. So I guess I can't relate but I think your sort is a good idea.

I don't use white either I just realized. Though I may have to try it, it does make a striking block .... hmmmm guess I am of no help to you though!! :)

Well, I use white for backings natural & bleached muslin. I have the same problem as you do watterstide. I have a good side box full and noting seems to go together. I would sort the out by look and feel and just use them if they feel and look near the same.

good,i thought i was all alone in this, i was starting to feel "different" LOL!
I use alot of white, and white on white.

I tried to match the back to the front when I first started. This became impossible when I made a couple of scrappy ones. Now I just put something on the back that matches one of the colors on the front. I will be looking at the front mostly so I do not really think about it.

About 5 or 6 yrs ago I began pinning a note on my pcs of white as to what brand & kind of white it is. I also do this with my creams. And my Muslins. From here on out, I will only be buying Kona Muslin so Muslin won't be an issue.

White isn't my thing so I don't have that problem. But if you want to talk about floral prints I do have a problem. All kinds and totes full.

I don't keep a lot of whites in my collection. I'm trying to add them because I'm going through a white period (like Picasso's pink period), but, yeah, very little in the white family.

Never thought of it - now I'll have to go look and see what's in that box.

I used to make quilts with a lot of white, it's a very raditional look. Now I see the all colored as different and more attractive. I'll probably use the whites for backing.
