White fabric
 

I am wondering what brand of white fabric you would buy to do embroidery work. There is a Moda white that seems really nice. It will be embroidery and also colored so I don't want a white on white, just a nice quality white.
Anyone with any advice for me? As long as I am going to go to all that work, I want a good quality nice white.

You definitely will not be disappointed with Moda Bella Solids. Lovely fabric and would be fine for embroidery. If you order on line make sure you order white, not snow. Snow is an off white, like a cream or eggshell color. Robert Kaufman Kona would also work well.

A Moda solid white or a White Kona Cotton are both nice quality and would work well for you.

I was gonna suggest kona white also.

I like the Moda Bella solids better than the old Kona cottons. I don't know if Kona had changed in recent years or not but they seemed a little coarse back in my earlier days of looking at solids.

I think my favorite pure white is the Bleached White from Legacy Studios. Nice weight, great drape and feel. I have used it as the backing on some hand embroidered quilts, a couple of machine embroidered labels and the base blocks for applique. Just a nice, not too heavy weight cotton. I usually buy it in the extra wide (108") width. More fabric, less money.

I usually use Kona for quilting and have just bought some Bella. If you are doing hand embroidery, the Bella might work better than Kona. I don't know about legacy Studios fabric. If machine embroidery is what you're doing, it probably won't matter which one you use.

ok. I like the white on white for embroidery and on any quilt it looks great

I do alot of hand embroidery and I prefer Kona's Snow over Moda's. I love Moda fabric but their Snow is more yellow. Kona's is a nice soft white not glaring.

Thanks everyone. I bought some really nice 90 wide white that felt really nice. I will have to check to see if it is Legacy or something else. It was really white white, bright white. It felt really nice though. This is for hand embroidery.
