someone that doesn't know any better

traumaRN 08-28-2011 07:13 AM

lol, I saw that one too! Obviously someone that knows a little, but not enough.

lyndaloo 08-28-2011 07:16 AM

I hope no one gets taken on that deal!

cjomomma 08-28-2011 07:16 AM

No way!! Definitely a dreamer but you know someone will buy it.

Nanamoms 08-28-2011 07:19 AM

There's one on SewItsForSale for $750. Usually the sellers there are pretty savvy so I'm surprised!!

No thank you.

huntannette 08-28-2011 07:46 AM

the year i was born...hmm wonder if it is a special year or something.....kind of pricey isn`t it ...lol

Mitch's mom 08-28-2011 07:56 AM

There is a recurring ad on Nashville CL for one at 750.00 but it does include the card table. Still too rich for me. I'll stick with my freebie and no table.

LOL Some people think becouse they touched it, it is worth more. NOT!!!

Featherweights on Kijiji(Canadian version of Craig's List) have been advertised in the $150-$400 range lately. A white one was advertised at $300 yesterday on the Barrie site. Every little while I still see dreamers who want to sell old machines in poor condition for big dollars.

sueisallaboutquilts 08-28-2011 09:22 AM

The lady selling it is actually very nice- I emailed her to tell her about that high price. I asked her if it's a Centennial and even so they don't sell for much. I got one for far less than 300.00
She said she looked it up on an antique website. Then she asked me my opinion.
I told her probably more than she wanted to know LOL
But she was very sweet and said she wasn't trying to rip anyone off but didn't know much about them.

I guess b/c some of us all such old machine addicts we assume everyone else knows. :D

Recently there was one posted in Pittsburgh for $1000. Sometimes I wonder where they come up with those numbers??

greenini 08-28-2011 10:16 AM

If you just look and happen to catch the overpriced ones and you really aren't familiar with the market, I can see where it's easy to a. get excited and b. overprice. When no one buys she'll come down I'm sure, if she really wants to be rid of it.

CanoePam 08-28-2011 10:53 AM

Here's one pretty similar for $800:

She does have a card table with it, and they run about $125-$150. Ridiculous.

So e of the prices on eBay are absurd.

BETTY62 08-28-2011 11:13 PM

At that price it will be a real antique before he sells it.
