Who has Electric Quilt Software? If so what #?

It seems like everyone is talking about EQ (Electric Quilt Software) so I thougth we should have a thread to chit chat about it.

I am very computer literate but I found Electric Quilt a challenge. Too much to learn and I got way too impatient.

I have them all from the beginning. I just bought 7. I still have 5 and 6 on my computer. I want to uninstall them, but want to make sure all their fab, blk and photo libraies will transfer to EQ 7, without keeping EQ5 and 6 still on my computer.

I have not installed EQ7 yet. I need to do it when I have time and I am getting company for a week, so won't get to it this week.

still waiting for my 7 upgrade, sale confirmation came Sunday.
Have only made it through 2 lessons on 6. need motivation to complete all the lessons before I install 7

I started with 5, just installed 7 day before yesterday. I did all the lessons in the book with 5 when I got it and I plan to go through them again with 7. I LOVE it...I use it ALL the time...I couldn't go back to graph paper for anything. Love, love, love it! :D:

I have 7. I just purchased it last week and absolutely love it. Four of us in our town are going to get together and learn it together. I think I am the only one that didn't have an earlier version, but after watching a few videos and looking at a couple of their pdf instructions, I have been able to create blocks and import fabric, so I think I'm doing pretty good for just having it a week. Of course, I love to learn things like this, so I am having a great time.

I have EQ5. I have a hard time with it, but I use it to measure for fabric requirements and to get ideas for quilts

I have 6 and 7 and love these programs. Since I've done a lot with photo shop and similar programs I didn't find EQ so difficult. Also, I started with Quilt Wizard which gave me a simple look at the basics. You might want to start there as the program is only about $30. I got my QW at Joanne's so you could probably get it for less with a coupon.

I love mine, but I need to know how to place a panel into the quilt!

I have number 5. I play with it a lot, but without the book. I just fiddle around. It helps me see what a quilt will look like before I even start cutting.

I bought EQ6 months ago and I still haven't installed it. My problem is that you need to do the lessons to really learn it and that cuts into my quilting time. :)

Mine should be arriving any day now.

Jim's Gem 06-15-2010 03:43 PM

I have 6 and have ordererd the 7 update, still unarrived.
I took a class at my LQS on how to use the program. I have not played with it much other than in class. I should try and get it up and going before I forget everything I learned!!!

Caroline which version do you have and what type of panel?...like a photograph in the center?.

I have EQ5; I did the first few lessons, but quickly lost interest. I kind of anticipated that lack of interest, which is what kept me from buying the more expensive EQ6 at the time.

It seems simple enough to learn and I'm sure I'll use it when I have a need for it.

I have EQ6 and I just got EQ7. I have designed a few quilts with the software including the one in my avitar. I love it. I am mathmatically challenged and I have always had a hard time working with graphpaper. This program was absolute freedom for me. I am currently sewing on another quilt I designed on the program.

The only draw back is it doesn't tell you how to put the quilt/block together so you will have to have at least some experience with piecing before you start.
