Oh no - a quilting fairy! I haven't heard of that. I know about the black hole that eats just one sock per pair but can't imagine a quilting fairy. I'll have to keep an eye out for her!!!

My keys are on a long leash on my purse (which also acts as a key fob) I don't unclip them when I drive, just use them attached with the long cord. My head is likewise attached!

So glad your head is attached. I've know people that can't find their--- with both hands.

It sounds like the same person who takes all my stuff and moves it around. This is obviously a universal problem!!!!

noveltyjunkie 01-26-2013 12:16 AM

Fun thread. I eventually found my good scissors in my underwear drawer. Then I remembered I hid them there when I thought the kids were thinking of using them!
I think we need to write a song about this, to the tune of "where do broken hearts go" maybe?

Scakes 01-26-2013 03:54 AM

Maybe they are with my missing things. I look for stuff all the time and it is always right where I left it. :)

twinkie 01-26-2013 03:59 AM

I am so glad to know that I am not the only one who does this. I thought I was going crazy.

Debd 01-26-2013 04:39 AM

I blame the cats for random noises and missing items. I'm right most of the time!

sparkys_mom 01-26-2013 04:47 AM

You think that's bad? I can't find the manual to my sewing machine and there is absolutely NO REASON whatsoever for me to have removed it from the room. It has been mia for several weeks now. :(

luci4 01-26-2013 04:47 AM

Glad to hear I'm not alone on this one. Sounds like I have lots of company.

Julie in NM 01-26-2013 04:53 AM

GOOD NEWS! Found the thread snips last night! Gonna tidy up sewing table today to see if quilter's cal and measuring tape are discovered.
COME OUT COME OUT WHERE EVER YOU ARE! GAME OVER!!!!

Sharbank 01-26-2013 05:03 AM

I started having similar problems with my treasured small tools....my purple thing, titanium scissors, quarter inch rulers, pens, etc....I have a corner chair in the family room that is heavy and seldom moved. We moved that corner chair one weekend and low and behold my precious Erma had been accumulating her stash of my stuff! Erma is my tuxedo kitty who is very aloof or sneaky whichever you choose. She is a cat burglar who specializes in things that I love and she does too. :o

lclang 01-26-2013 05:17 AM

You'll find them when you are looking for something else ...happens every time.

Julie in NM 01-26-2013 05:48 AM

Found choc I did from myself. Thank heavens choc doesn't expire. Found the 1*6 ruler..had two lost one now back to two and found the measuring tape. But alas not quilter's calculator. So sad. But the day is young! Added lots of scraps to my scrap containerS. Note..see..have several scrap containers.

bunniequilter 01-26-2013 06:01 AM

I know how frustrating this can be. I moved a few years ago, and lost my quarter inch foot for my machine, my power cord for my machine and a ton of thread.....never did find the foot, found the rest but not the one thing I miss the most.

Debbie C 01-26-2013 06:20 AM

I blame all that on my mysterious lawn gnomes!

ccthomas 01-26-2013 06:36 AM

I know what my problem is: SLOW down, PAY ATTENTION, and I hear my mom's words of wisdom: PUT IT BACK WHERE IT GOES (which I have passed on to my three children) BUT the problem is that I don't do this. Every time I can't find that one thing I really need, I have caused my problem. DRIVES ME CRAZY. (I did find Yummy Chocolate Monday while looking for my Work ID Card and found the ID too.) But that pin cushion with my favorite needles is still missing!

Michellesews 01-26-2013 06:37 AM

Sew very frustrating! I try so hard to have a home for each thing, and put it back. I am 62 years old, and still trying to teach myself that. One thing I have been good about this year, though, it cleaning up my sewing room before I leave it in the evening. I sew/quilt at least 5-6 days a week and by the end of the day it looks like a bomb went off in there...and I lose things during the course of the day. When I do my evening clean up, I usually find the pesky item underneath fabric on my cutting table, although I already looked there for it! Sometimes I lose something I was using and when I clean up, I find that it made it's way back to its rightful "home" and was there all the time. Now how did that happen??? I have often thought, there are just way too many tools "required" for what we do...but once you get used to one, like a stiletto for instance, you cannot do without it. I am chasing that stilletto all day long, it goes from the sewing table to the ironing table to the cutting table, and I am convinced it has legs and follows me!

QuiltingKrazy 01-26-2013 06:41 AM

I lost several things including new pair of glasses! I think I figures out what was happening. I have two tables In an L shape and one tucks under the other with a couple of inches between them. My trash can sits just under where there they meet and I think things got tucked up under there and fell into the trash can !!!!!

gabeway 01-26-2013 07:20 AM

Little gremlins always trying to slow us down. You will be surprised what you find when you do search mission.

Caswews 01-26-2013 08:16 AM

Okay ...deep breathe ...Try try try to remember where you sat them last .. AND make up a trap for sewing Gremlins !LOL

meanmom 01-26-2013 08:17 AM

I have the same mean fairy in my sewing room. My favorite thread snips disappeared for a long time. I figured when I bought the replacement pair they would reappear. NOPE. They did reappear in a weird place several months after that. My tape measure and several other things have vanished too. Some reappear, some don't. I think somethings the sewing fairies are hungry and eat them!

HA ha ha ha ha that was cute

kyquiltlover1942 01-26-2013 09:07 AM

See if your thief has my thread haven, that I misplaced when I cleaned and reorganized my room in November.

KyKaren1949 01-26-2013 10:37 AM

I suspect it's the same gremlin that sneaks into our closets and makes our clothes shrink every now and then!!!!

sewnsewer2 01-26-2013 10:41 AM

Either the sewing gremlins or that big black hole took them!:D

These three items I always, I thought, put back in their special place. So I want to know who's coming into my house and taking this stuff! Or second question, who would be so mean to hide my favorite tools? I have a feeling it's my alter ego. Tonight gonna do a search and recover and see if I can relocate this stuff and see what other treasures are trying to escape. Doing this takes time away from by sewing but guess it just has to be done.

My sentiments exactly, but for different lost things. Good luck with your search and I hope you find some other misplaced treasures along the way.

Same thing happens with my glasses and the tv remote. The phone rings, and they wind up next to it. If only I'd remember that every time I can't find something. Or in the freezer or fridge. Always in the LEAST likely place.

Michelekolt 01-26-2013 03:21 PM

I lost a small cutting template last summer. I knew it was somewhere, but heck it took me 7 months to find it. Some how my template found it's own hiding place in a charm pack that I used last week. Now I have 2 of the same templates.

nygal 01-26-2013 03:28 PM

I still haven't found a new brown skirt I bought over 8 yrs ago. I bought it then hung it up in a closet and when I went to wear it to church the following Sunday it was gone. Still haven't found it. It wouldn't fit me now.:(

jcrow 01-26-2013 03:32 PM

If I get up from sewing to go do a load of laundry or answer the phone, I usually take something from my sewing room with me and leave it in the darnedest places and never find them for months. At least not until I re buy whatever it was that I lost!

debbieoh 01-26-2013 03:43 PM

Maybe you have a sewing ghost living with you!!

Maybe your husband ran off with your snippers to trim his ear hairs.

Me too!!! I finally broke down and bought two more pairs. Sheesh, I can't imagine where they got to. :)

Quilt THIEVES! Call the Quilt POLICE!

cr12cats 01-26-2013 05:20 PM

bet my polorgist( SP? sorry)has a brother that visits your house. if you see him please ask if his brother told him where some of my items are too. LOL

Country1 01-26-2013 05:24 PM

Quilting gremlins? LOL

brickley 01-26-2013 05:46 PM

I have this saying One reason I hate to have all my kids gone from home. Is there is know one to blame for all my stuff that I can't find.

quiltingcandy 01-26-2013 05:50 PM

We don't have any cats or other animals that will snitch an object or two, but some of my items will disappear and re-appear in strange places. The other night I was looking for one of my favorite thimbles. I was sure I had put it in my traveling sewing basket, but couldn't find it. So the search began, found the gift card I was looking for a few weeks before, under a bunch of fabric, and the sand-paper circles to put on my rulers to keep them from slipping I found hanging on my bulletin board where I put pictures and new patterns I buy. But the thimble was no where to be found. Finally gave up and went to bed - woke up at 3am, started looking again for an additional 45 minutes, went back to bed and got up went back to my sewing room, got the other 2 thimbles and decided I must have lost it. Then opened my sewing basket, picked up the mechanical pencil to put it in the holder and there was the thimble.

So I do believe there is a gremlin or poltergeist living in this house. I would have accused my DH of playing a prank on me, but he does not go into my sewing room unless it is to put something on a table and walk out. He doesn't have a clue to what I do in there. He doesn't even take DVD's in and out.

Rosyhf 01-26-2013 05:55 PM

Some time ago I decided to take two weeks to straighten out my sewing studio. Now I can find everything. It was worth the two weeks. This has save me many hours of frustration and has given me smooth sewing time when I really need it without interruptions. lol.....

sewbizgirl 01-26-2013 06:46 PM

I have a large trash bin beside my sewing chair, and I sew so fast my machine vibrates stuff off the table. I just found my missing seam ripper in said trash can.... Might have happened to you, too?
