Who is Your Favorite Quilt Pattern Designer?

I like different designers for different reasons, but one of my all time favorite quilt pattern designers is Karen Griska. Her stuff is always so colorful and exciting and also very scrap friendly.

I love Bargello and have made many of Eileen Wrights quilts.

"Maniac," that's beautiful! I was browsing on Etsy for quilt patterns and I came across this light and airy bargello pattern by Quilting Jays: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1931454...?ref=related-3

I would have a hard time picking a favorite. It depends on what kind of quilt I am making. I love Judy Niemeyer's stuff. I also like a lot of Edita Sytar's designs. Jenny Beyer has beautiful designs. Julie Herman of Jaybird designs is always coming up with new and innovative ideas using hexis and triangles.

My taste change over the years. My favorite right now is Dawn Heese of Linen Closet Quilts. I also like Jenny Doan for pre cut fabric patterns and Bonnie Hunter for scrappy.

Mariposa 04-20-2016 07:19 AM

I couldn't pick just one. I like Judy Niemeyer, Jacqueline de Jonge, McKenna Ryan, Edyta Sitar, Eileen Wright, and it goes on. Bonnie Hunter's great scrappy patterns too! :)

I agree I love many pattern designers can't pick just one.

I love Esther Aliu's beautiful patterns. Jinny Beyer has such rich usage of color in all of her quilts, and she is another one of my favorites. I am also very drawn to Erin Russek's patterns as well.

Stunning beyond words!!

tessagin 04-20-2016 10:12 AM

too many designers to choose from. They each have their own level of genius!!

I like simple, modern designs, so Amy Ellis gets my vote!

I honestly rarely notice who designed the pattern, just if I like it! I do find a lot to like in Fons and Porter magazines and have finished and gifted one quilt by Ann Lauer with another of hers in progress, but that is because she presented a workshop in my sister's community. What surprises me is how often I pick up a fabric I like and find a familiar fabric designer's name on the selvedge!

Bonnie Hunter's patterns are my favorite

I love lots of designers , But I love Annette Ornles from Southwinds just wish I was as clever as her , guess I will just have to keep buying patterns .

terri123 04-21-2016 05:20 AM

Derek Lockwood for his Bargello patterns. :)

I adore the cute wall hangings designed by McKenna Ryan. I have only bought the one with the otters, but I LOVE looking at all the animals and all the other scenes she makes.

I like all the designers...their creativity inspires me ! But, my favorite designer is me.....LOL

tropit 04-21-2016 07:20 AM

Mariposa...Thank you for introducing me to Jacqueline de Jonge. I really want to try some of her designs. They would be a step up in my level of ability, but I love a challenge. Has anyone taken any classes by her?

Heather Mulder Peterson of Anka's Treasures is my favorite designer. Her patterns are so well written and have a unique look. Many of her patterns are written for several size options, and she takes the time to tell you which way to press seams so they will nest. I almost never use pins when I make her patterns because all the seams naturally nest and line up.

JENNR8R 04-22-2016 06:17 AM

Me and my graph paper... I think following a pattern is too hard. I think I must have a learning disability.

Jingle 04-22-2016 12:44 PM

I really have none. I do have a lot of Lynette Jensen's books.
Lately making up my own making scrappies for donation.

KwiltyKahy 04-22-2016 05:21 PM

Couldn't pick just one but I always like Pam Bono and Derek Lockwood.

Gregory 04-22-2016 08:20 PM

I'm definitely biased, because I love everything my mother in law makes. Though I guess I see more of it than anything else.

I agree with Tessagin. I buy books and patterns from many different designers.

QuiltnLady1 04-23-2016 01:20 PM

I look at a lot of designers work and get a lot of inspiration, but I design most of my quilts either using EQ7 or graph paper. I own a lot of books, but mostly because of the techniques they teach me rather than for the pattern.
