I am wanting to do a whole cloth quilt. Would like to dye in a watercolor kind of way. Any sites, tutorials or suggestions would be appreciated. Also what kind of fabric to use, unbleached muslin, or a specific brand like kona? Thanks for any imput.

You might want to use a PFD fabric (prepared for dyeing) so you don't have to pre-wash. This is usually high quality muslin, I think.

Just ooc, and it's probably a really stupid question and I'm not saying I'd ever do it.... but could you dye it after it was all done and quiltied?

Paint it Micki Lawler SkyDyes-ish? Let's say it's wall hanging size.
Stay stitch the outside edges, before the binding.
Or, even better, paint it including the binding.
I'd probably be blocking it anyway so it would be getting wet at some point.

What do you think could happen to it?

Yes you can. I saw one of the preprinted wash out ink wallhanging which had been dyed. If you should do one of the preprinted ones, be sure and wash out the lines before dying as the dye takes differently over the lines. If you do your own, be sure and get all the marks out before dying. Quilt in cogton thread. polycotton will not dye the same and the suggestion to use the made for dying fabric is a good one although I suspect a good quality white muslin wuld work as well. Also I suggest using white as the background and not the off white or nagtural muslin.
