does anyone use battery operated cutting shears?
i've seen a few at the thrifts & wondered why...
are they hard to use or keep sharp or what?

I used some a long time ago, I just hope the new type are better. The ones I had wouldn't cut warm butter.

I think they don't cut as accurate from what I have heard

I think they work better on clothes patterns- I have a set of electric ones I use to make Christmas stockings with.

If you are talking about battery operated cutting scissors, I have one made by Black and Decker and they are amazing for cutting fleece. I love them.

I've been graced with several pairs over the years... and usually they are not sharp enough. However, I did have one that was a dream..... I could cut up to 3 layers of heavy denim ( with out a groan) with it when I was testing them out... clean as a whistle..... I cut tons of stuff out with them ( they were vintage-- when I got them), used them for years.... then one day half way thru a cut , they died.... guess the motor just wore out.... I've not found a good set since.....they are mint green but can't recall the brand

haven't seen any electric ones yet, just battery operated ones, considered trying them...but prefer to hear the feedback first--

my daughter gifted me with a nice black and decker set because of my arthritis. they are very noisy and vibrate a lot, so i don't use them. however, if i ever did a chenille, i would definitely use them for that.

I remember my Mom having an electric set, years ago. She soon went back to cutting with the old fashioned scissors!

I use my rotary cutters for cutting out most everything ... including pattern pieces for clothing. Also fleece. For finer cuts and curves, the smaller rotary blades do the trick ... and I seldom use scissors.

I have a pair of re-chargable shears, and I use them all the time for cutting large pieces. They work very well. Much easier on the hands. i often wonder why the clerks at Joanns don;'t use them for all the fabric they cut all day
