Why do you suppose it is that cats love to lay on quilts?
My kitty could have a blanket in a basket to lay in right beside me but..if the quilt was anywhere where she could get to it..that is where she would lay. If I am doing regular sewing like clothing or crafting she was happy to lay in her basket and not have any desire to get near the item. I am also wondering if dogs do the same thing for others out there. My dog could care less if I am sewing a quilt or a dog bone... |
smells like you?

My dog "Miss Scarlet" wants a quilt over a blanket any day..lol..she has one she loves in the sewing room and lays there while I quilt..I do think it's your smell and a nesting thing with her !!

Dogs definitely do the same thing.
When I'm pinning large pieces, I lay an old sheet on the floor so if the quilt I'm working on hits the floor, it will hit the sheet instead of picking up small pieces of thread, lint, dustbunnies, whatever happens to collect on the floor. I have to take huge steps as I'm working around what's on the table because my big Pit Bull is laying on the sheet under my feet. Always. Same thing when I move the floor sheet to under the ironing board. Along comes the dog to lay on the sheet. I always make sure he has a quilt in his crate. |
My dogs want to be on the very quilt I am working on and no other if they can find a way to get on it. Makes ironing a top difficult when one of the dogs has decided to lay on the part on the floor and I don't realize it. I made them their own quilts a few weeks ago. They use them when they can't get to the quilt I'm making. I guess they want to be part of the quilting process! :D

Cause they are soft and part of you.

My dogs do the same thing If I am knitting something they like to lay on that too.
