Why is my walking foot screeching at me?
Need some help with my Brother walking foot. It is making a really loud noise. It sounds like it needs to be oiled somewhere but I can't find any place to put oil. Has anyone dealt with this problem? If there anything that can be done or should I order a replacement?

I would contact the company that made the walking foot or talk to your technician that services your DSM. I found out that I wore out my original walking foot that I bought when I purchased my now old Bernina 1530.

They can need oiling. Found several threads that discuss this:
http://sewing.patternreview.com/Sewi...ns/topic/40099 http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...s-t228516.html http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...ot-t88227.html I did see some warnings to be careful not to place oil on any plastic parts; only oil places where metal touches metal. Apparently lint can get between metal moving parts and cause squeaking. A pipe cleaner might help get the oil where it needs to go. Some plastic cases may come apart too (if you can figure out how to get them apart; my dh is good at that, but I am not). |
Prism: Thank you so much for the links. Didn't think to search right here on the board, never heard of the problem before. Reading the part about the tech soaking the whole thing and then draining made me a lot braver. I don't think I will go that far but its nice to know even that extreme treatment didn't cause damage. Again, thanks for your time in providing the links.

They need to be serviced just like your machine. I had that done the last time I took my machine in for a spa treatment.

When I had my 1996 Viking Rose service last year, they replaced the screw that holds it in place as he said I had worn it down.

mine makes a loud bnging noise. I should try some of the solutions too.

:D :DIt screeches, cuz, Emma, it wants a day off! :D :D But seriously, I hope you figure it out. Screeching would not be pleasant.

Coopah: Ain't going to happen. I've taken the old saw to heart, "If you die with a large stash, you just weren't sewing fast enough."
|
Oh, yes, you're right! I think I'll be leaving stash behind! So here's hoping you get the screech fixed so you can sew even faster!
