didn't I look for information before I did it????? I just spent weeks making a paper pieced Hunter's Star quilt top (3rd quilt ever). Spent all day removing the paper and THEN I washed it!!! Yep, I don't know why I felt the need to, but it frayed to the point of being unusable! Bwaaah! All the information on this board and all I had to do was look!
Just needed to vent!

BETTY62 12-05-2010 10:34 PM

OMG, how awful. What do you think caused the fabric to do that?

It's generally not advisable to wash a pieced top before quilting. The only way it can be safely done is to first baste the top to a foundation fabric, and then hand wash.

Learn and live.

Sometimes we just HAVE to check things out for ourselves before we believe what others have to say about the subject.
