Why sell fabric?
 

Just went to For Sale portion of the board and looked at all the fabric that is being sold. I wonder how much fabric one has to have to be wanting to "sell" some. Even some " not so cool" stuff could be backings....or like someone says....cut small enough can't tell it " ugly"..... My daughter calls my stash "Joann's Basement".... But I will use it somewhere, sometime, somehow.....just not adding to it ( much)...... Anyway, I was just wondering............why

sometimes people buy a fabric, put it in stash, and years later pull it out and think What was I thinking? One woman's trash is another's treasure. Some find awesomely good deals and want to share the find. I think some of the people on that forum also had a business at one time and are just getting rid of inventory.

People give me fabric they don't want anymore so I turn around and give away what I don't want.

I don't like to keep more that I can store and easily see what I have. I have some I am selling because I inherited so much when my sister passed.

When one gets old like me and have to downside to a smaller apt, fabric that we had bought but will never use, it is better to sell it then just give it away. I am doing both. We on the board call it a garage sale. I know that one member was considering opening a store but her plans fell thru so she is selling it on QB.

Maybe they've had some unexpected expenses, and need the money.

I have fallen in and out of love with some fabrics, and feel like someone else could use it. I've not sold mine though, I usually give it to the church.

I don't sell fabric I don't want. I give it away.

Well, I for one, love to see what others have to offer. Sometimes I even find a print I've thought I would never see again. I don't care what the circumstances are, the "Sale" section of the board has its purpose.

I sell fabric because: I over-bought for the project I had in mind. Found something that worked better. Taste changed. Have more fabric than time. And most of all – as a "collector" I have to get rid of current stock to make room for new. And yes I do donate to quilt guilds.
