Wide-backing sites
I like pretty fabric for the backside of my quilts. My stash is very lacking in this area. Where is your favorite site to shop 108" wide fabric, please?
|
Marshall Dry Goods has great prices. Thousands of Bolts has good prices and a great selection. I have ordered from both and been very pleased.

Quilted Twins in Dade City, FL. They always have great prices and quick service. It is an online store, there are no quilt shops near me. It's less expensive to pay the shipping than drive 200 miles round trip, gas isn't cheap!

Quilted Twins in Dade City, Fl, and I just checked out and ordered a 118" wide backing from Miller's Fabrics with only a $5 shipping charge. Came quickly and it seems to be a nice fabric. Will go there again as most of my quilts are around 105" or more these days.

Keepsake Quilting has beautiful backs. I've bought from them and was pleased with the fabric and the service.

I like nice backings, but am more than willing to run a single seam to make my own wide enough. Sometimes, if it's for a king size quilt, 2 seams. It's very easy to do and cost effective. I look at what Hancock's of Paducah has on sale for $5 or $6/yard. Sometimes, there's a quantity discount on top of that, so I get 10 or 15 yards for as little as $4/yard.
Hancock's also has brand name widebacks. Another place that some find ones they like is https://backsidefabrics.com . I have not used them, but know people who have. |
I like Backside Fabrics and Keepsake Quilting. Keepsake has specials on Wednesdays and offers 3 yd bundles at great prices and Backside has some great sale prices. I haven't bought any wide backs from Marshall's Dry Goods but have been satisfied with regular fabric I have gotten there.

I just looked at Quilted Twins. I'm going to be needing to get another back soon for a quilt I'm making for a Christmas gift. Wow! They had 3 or 4 that would work. Nice backings!

Equilter is still my first stop. Not sure how often they have backings on sale, but they just had a sale about a month ago:

In addition to Keepsake, Hancocks, and Marshalls Dry Goods, I've bought beautiful backings at Fat Quarter Shop. It was during a Black Friday sale last year. The backings were rich in color and design and a good price at the time. May be a good place to watch for sales. Missouri Star also had some great prices on quilt backings during their Pre-Christmas sales. I bought a couple from them too and was not disappointed.

Fort Worth Fabrics (bolt sale) and MSQ ( 3 yard sales).
|
I like www.backsidefabrics.com. I have ordered several times from them and been happy with the quality and prompt service.
|
I get most of my wide backs from Keepsake when they're on sale, which is often. It's not hard to get to the free shipping point.
|
Another vote for Quilted Twins. Nice assortment of backings & fast shipping.

I like Connecting Threads for backing fabric

I have been a little disappointed in what I got from Quilted Twins, as far as wide backs go. The weave was pretty uneven, leaving large "bubbles," which were difficult to get even enough to quilt without leaving pleats. The fabric was thinner than many others I've ordered from them. I haven't ordered wide backs from them for few years after that, so maybe things have changed. I'm a pre-washer, so these things may not have shown up for those who don't prewash. I get very little fabric from JoAnn's anymore, but was pleasantly surprised at the quality of a couple of wide backs I bought from them. I do like Hobby Lobby for wide backs.

Thanks! Great prices! Placed an order for 9 backs!

I've bought from Quilted Twins and Hancock's of Paducah, and been very pleased

Woohoo! You go Aashley -- 9 backs will be quite a package. I've always been very happy with equilter and hoipe you have similar results.
I did buy two backs -- one just because and one that I think will go well with my civil war fabrics once I get to sewing again. I also picked up a White on White "scrap pack", the Bonnie Hunter mysteries always use up what I have. The scrap packs are hard to find on the website but are a really good way to build up stash by color or theme, if they have something you want. They are typically bolt ends under 1/2 yard. Sometimes there are more options than others and I got the only White on White bundle. https://www.equilter.com/category/38...se-scrap-packs |
I spent my whole SS check with the quilted twins, I have the emails from them to alert me on their sales, Love them! Also, Quilt in a day, Missouri Star Quilts, and equilter, too. Love getting a whole bolt of my favorite colors for a bargain price. Wish my production of using up the fabric matched my buying or love to buy fabric rate.

Just got my daily email from Marshall Dry Goods. They have some 108" Quilting Treasures for $11.99 per yard.
