I was surprised yesterday to see a wide ironing board at Wal-Mart. I came home and measured, and I had room for it, so I bought it today. It is 18 inches wide by 49 inches long. Then there is a 6 1/2 metal addition to the length of the ironing board to sit your iron on. There is also a shelf type thing under the board, which I thought I wouldn't want, but now that I have it up, it looks pretty useful.
I am one very pleased quilter. My sister has one of these, and I have looked online at them, but there was one at Wal-Mart...for $39. It fits in the same place my old ironing board did. Now I can't wait to iron, when normally I dread it!! |
wow, cool, will see if ours has them

Enjoy! I love my wide ironing board. I had my son make it for me and I covered it. I couldn't find one already made. Nice to know others can have one now too.

I'll have to check it out and see if our local one has it.

When I visit my DBF in Upstate NY I don't have an ironing board. At first I was putting a towel on the dryer but didn't like it. Then I got smart! I open a large folding table, lay some batting on it and it works great. I always loved those wide ironing boards, too, but this works for me. At least until I have more money.

I got one of those for christmas a few years ago :D it doesn't have the shelf or iron holder though... Was one of the best christmases from hubby ever -- I got my ironing board, and an electric griddle... sure beats the welder I got for my birthday one year

I have wide board too. Love it, all except the metal shelf for the iron. My iron is too big for it.
