I started with 2 1/2 as a new quilter, and then moved to 2 1/4. I've been experimenting with 2, though, and will probably use it for most things in the future.

I like to use a 2 1/4" binding. I will use a 2" binding on my mini quilts.

2" double fold binding. I end up with binding the same size on both sides of the quilt.

Since I have only done quilts to use as blankets (baby blankets and larger) I prefer the 2.5 inches folded over. There have been a couple times I wasn't paying attention and cut it 2 inches and had to use it. My biggest concern was if it would hold since I generally use flannel on the back and want the wider finding.

I've always done 2" double fold. Love the way it looks. Thin and holds up very well!

It depends on the type of binding you are making. I normally hand-stitch to the back so I cut 2.25". But doing smaller quilt, 2" has a nice proportional look. I even cut my bug rugs binding 1.75".

2 1/4 double fold works for me.

I really like a 2 1/4" binding.
