Sounds okay to me.

As my bed is higher than most I decided to make my own bed skirt. I put a fitted sheet on the box springs with velcro on 3 sides. I took muslin for the backing and added a ready made white eyelet skirt to the bottom, added 2 more layers of fabric (my choice of colors and added the other half of velcro to this at the top. I made my skirts in 3 separate sections as that was a lot of fabrics together. And as the velcro is at the top of the box spring (ie fitted sheet) I can add the 3 pieces of skirting and it will be hidden under the top mattress. When I need to wash the skirts I can just pull them away from the box spring and wash them. I make sure to add the velcro to the skirting sections that won't connect to itself in the wash. That makes such a mess.

Would love to see a picture of this (or from someone else who has done this)! I do an oversized queen for my bed, and sometimes it is quite heavy with all that length on the sides.

I think it is a great idea also and really want to see this when you get it ready for viewing!:D

Is the bedskirt cotton or poly/cotton? Will it need ironing after washing? I used to have a bed and breakfast. Some of the skirts needed a lot of ironing as they were 100% cotton and lacy. What a pain! If you merely attach the skirt to the quilt you may find the same thing is needed. Yet do you want to attach cotton/poly to a 100% cotton quilt? It will work but I think having a neutral bedspread underneath the quilt would be wiser in the long run.

I have a queen bed too and I cover it with a white damask type of bedspread that goes to the white dust ruffle. Then weekly I change my quilts that are vintage regular full size that cover the top. It's quite pretty.
