Will you join me for our Virtual Quilt Day - Sunday 9/23?

September is here and I am ready to sew!! Will you join me once again for a day of sewing with your friends? No rules, just come to the boards on 9/23 and find the new post about Virtual Quilt day. Post your goals for the day, then get to sewing. Come back throughout the day to check in and also to show us your progress. Easy peasy, you can join us whenever you can, early or later if you have commitments in the morning.

So will you join me on the 23rd?

Rachel

Count me in! I have a pinwheel baby quilt I'm going to start. I'll be having 2 friends joining me that day. I'm really looking fwd to this one!

irishrose 09-07-2012 05:32 PM

As soon as I can get home as I actually get a lot on these days. Thank you for hosting them.

Krisb 09-07-2012 05:35 PM

Count me in. I have a long list that I am highly unlikely to finish, but progress is good.

franc36 09-07-2012 05:59 PM

I'll be there! I love the Virtual Quilting Day! Thank you so much for starting it and keeping it up. I honestly think that had it not been for your first Virtual Quilt Day, I would not be quilting now. I had about given up on quilting; but that day so inspired me that I've been quilting ever since and loving it. Thanks a million, Rachel.

DogHouseMom 09-07-2012 06:47 PM

I'm going to try. Husband mumbled something about needing my help with sumptin on Sunday so it depends on how long it takes and what time he get's around to doing it.

But ... I want to make this in a day.

I will. I missed the last one but on the previous one I finished one quilt for my DH. The first for him. A great success. I think I will be working on a T-shirt quilt for my 7 yr old boy who is turning 8 in Oct.

kristakz 09-07-2012 07:26 PM

But that's so far away :P Adding it to my calendar now, so that I don't forget to join in.

:-( I wish I was a full time quilter!

Me too!!!!

Count me in I really need to finish my patriotic quilt for a friend who is a veteran of the army. It just needs borders. I would like to have this finished by then so I can send it off to the quilter

Pat625 09-08-2012 03:24 AM

I will be there!! I missed the last one because I was sick..Going to make sure I stay healthy this time!! I have not particular project in mind yet..but have been organizing scraps and may work on a scrappy quilt!!

sandyquilts 09-08-2012 01:48 PM

I'll try to be here ... great idea.

Raggiemom 09-08-2012 02:01 PM

My parents will be in town that weekend so won't be able to join :( Hopefully I can do the one in October as I really enjoy them and they're very motivational.

LTeachergeorge 09-08-2012 03:03 PM

I've missed the last two or three, but I will be there for this one!! Got several UFO's I need to finish!! Thank you, Rachel!

I was looking forward to seeing this post. I love these days that I totaly commit to sewing! Count me in:

I will be LA practicing on a sample quilt. I need lots of it! Nine 15" blocks and a border to play in. Just bought a 4"clamshell ruler to learn.

Also working on UFO #6. A scrappy 'Snake in the Hollow'

peace

DogHouseMom 09-09-2012 05:38 AM

OK ... so where is everyone? I've been sewing for a few hours already :)

Someone posted a question about this pattern on Friday http://www.ohfransson.com/oh_fransso...ice-quilt.html and I liked it, so I'm making it. Picked the colors Friday, ironed and cut the squares (27 different squares) yesterday, and started sewing them today. Mine will be in greens and blue.

I'm making a baby quilt for step-daughter who is due in 3 weeks. It's not going to be finished in time. So I'm making the above *quickie* quilt for her and the one with the tedious applique will be her Christmas present.

kateyb 09-09-2012 05:44 AM

I haven't been able to join the virtual quilting day for the last few months but there is nothing on my calendar for the 23rd so I should be able to. Only thing that may interfere is canning produce from my garden. I have lots of UFO's to tackle.

IrishNY 09-09-2012 06:03 AM

Drat, missed the last one because I was traveling and will be traveling again for this one. Hate to miss out but hopefully October will be better.

cannyquilter 09-13-2012 01:51 PM

Have only managed to join one day so far and achieved so much. Have a day planned with my grandchildren but will try to join in the evening (probably your afternoon). Also have no plans for the following day so will use that as my virtual quilt day and will post then have lots of things to finish off so have high hopes of getting lots done.

Thanks so much for organising these days

athenagwis 09-18-2012 03:50 AM

How's everyone doing? Quilting this weekend!! I have some patterns I am writing, so my plan is to make some samples for those. What is everyone else going to work on?

Pat625 09-18-2012 08:48 AM

Looks like I will be working on beginning a quilt for my grandaughter with Hello Kitty fabric. I also have a scrappy quilt in my frame that I am hand quilting...I have a lot of scraps to organize, but probably won't get to that..

Twisted Quilter 09-18-2012 11:38 AM

I've done nothing but cut fabric most of the summer. If I can finish cutting my squares for the 2.5" swap, I'll join. I love the wonky D9P.

donac 09-18-2012 12:41 PM

I am busy on Friday night and Sat night and ds2 is coming home from college but I am going to give it a try. I have enough half square log cabins for a lap quilt and enough squares for a disappearing 9 patch for a lap quilt so I really have to get these together.

ArtsyOne 09-18-2012 12:46 PM

Count me in. My goal is to add two borders to an Attic Windows and then start on the pieced back.

I've been waiting & watching for this post for the last few days. Yay! Yes, I will be there, tho am not sure what I'll be working on. There's a 1-day mystery here on the web that day so I may do that (I need to get a baby quilt made so that would kill 2 birds with one stone). Or I may piece some backs. Or work on getting some Dresden Plate blocks ready to be appliqued. I will be there, tho! And I, too, am so thankful & grateful we have these days. They really are worthwhile!

Sewnoma 09-18-2012 01:23 PM

I hope to spend almost this whole WEEKEND sewing, if this darn flu bug will leave me alone! Count me in! :)

I have LOTS of quilts in progress that are destined to be Christmas presents...I really do need to spend a lot of time at the machine over the next few weeks anyway.

cannyquilter 09-18-2012 02:46 PM

After about 6 weeks of very little quilting I have been sewing up a storm this last week or two. Have made two small lap quilts for my two grandaughters (just need to complete the hand sewing for two sides of the binding on one). That leaves four WIP (sounds so much better than UFO); two identical twin size quilts which have 48 appliqued blocks (seemed like a good idea at the time!) an embroidered tote bag and a sewing pouch. So this weekend I am hoping to finish piecing one of the quilts and to applique and put together three columns of the other quilt, I have set myself a target to finish by the end of September so I can begin on my Christmas list. Rachel you will have to keep these days going to keep me on track. See you all on Sunday, rotary cutters at the ready and machine engines running.

Pat625 09-18-2012 07:56 PM

Is it Sunday yet???? I am anxious to get to Sunday...even tho I can quilt everyday, seems the focus of our virtual days keeps me enthused, and I accomplish so much!! What I really need to be working on is gifts for Christmas...Disablilty does not leave a large gift budget...Anyone with ideas for kids and married children? Appreciate all the help I can get!!

How about advent calendars. I know it will be after the advent when they get them, but they make such great keepsakes to pull out every year!! Wallets and purses seem to be a big hit for girls too nowadays, especially with the popularity of Vera Bradley .... Sorry I am not much help!!

Just a quick reminder!! Sunday is the day!! :) I have been working on patterns, and I can't wait to be able to get more done!! My hubby is planning on keeping our son occupied the whole day, so I am going to be a quilting fiend. Here's a peek at a few designs I have already done:

So how is everyone else doing getting stuff together?

Cheers!

I am ready to join you!

Momyar 09-21-2012 07:12 AM

I'll be there!! I've designed a QR code quilt for my husband. I got all 729 3 1/2 inch squares cut out and now I'm ready to get started. Hopefully, I'll actually get started tonight.

cannyquilter 09-21-2012 08:27 AM

My day with the grandchildren has been postponed until next week so I will be joining everyone on Sunday. I am going to finish the applique on my twin quilt; put the last three columns together and hopefully attach the borders. Then if I get all that done I will start the applique on my second (matching) twin. I hope to get some done before Sunday but I am so looking forward to a great day. Rachel will you be starting a new thread or are we going to post on this one? See you all Sunday.

That sounds neat! And totally geeky :) Is it a readable code to a particular site he's keen on?

ETA: geeky is a good thing in my book. Hope I didn't offend you.

I feel ya!! I usually have a few projects going since I never know what kind of mood I am in. I like having lots of different options. :)

Working on a BOM quilt -- have the 12 blocks complete -- am working on the sashings and need to get border fabric I'd also like to machine sew a couple bindings on, so they will be ready to hand stitch down. Who knows what else might be added to the list by Sunday? Looking forward to it!!

I'm hoping to get some sewing done this weekend, and this should help motivate me to get some done on Sunday. Count me in1
