winding bobbins
 

I have a terrible time winding my bobins, I have a little winding machine made by singer, but it doesn't wind evenly. So I try my sewing machine to wind them, same thing. I have the correct size bobin. Any information you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

This has happened to me as well. I found that I hadn't wound it around the tension disc enough to create tension, maybe this is what's going on with you. Hope this helps.

This happens all the time to me. I found that putting tension on the thread helps a lot. I put a finger on the thread before it enters the tension disc.

I have a 6600 Janome, the dealer told me to wrap the thread around the tension disc once and a half, it puts more tension on the disc and actually wraps the thread tighter on the bobbin, thus getting more thread on the bobbin,

My sister gave me some pre wound bobbins and love them. They last forever because it is so tight and I am not a good bobbin makeer either

I try to remember to hold the thread end as the bobbin starts winding...after a bit it will break off. Also was told to not wind bobbins too fast, but not sure why that is...I think something about the thread stretching.

I have a Janome 6600 and I just wind it on the wheel backwards and that seems to work for me.

I put a finger on mine, too, but just before it goes onto the bobbin. That way I can move the thread up or down as it winds by how much pressure I put on the thread.

On some machines you can adjust the position of the tension holder so that the thread coming off that should be about center of your bobbin on the winder. The tension also helps if you can adjust that.
