I'm making an EGG table topper, fashioned after the Carrot Table topper. My question is: will regular binding (wof) work, or because of the "roundies" do I have to use Bias. Thanks all for your help.

I would think you would need bias to have it lay smooth

Shaped like an oval?
You will be much, much happier if you use bias binding. Much. A lot. Really. It's worth it. |
You need to have a quilting buddy teach you how to make continuous bias binding. Your fabric square is cut into two triangles, then stitched into a tube and cut round and round and ends up as yards and yards of bias binding. It's a skill all quilters need to learn. I love bias binding on all of my quilts, curved or not and it makes wonderful mitered corners.

If it has any curve you must use a bias or else end up with little pleats all around your project. Good Luck

Sorry this I am sure is a really stupid question. But as I have said many times before, I am a slow comprehender....what is the bias? Let me see if I have this right....The selvedge is the length of the fabric that usually will have the fabric line name on it. So is the bias the way that you would cut it into the strips such as 2 1/2" strips? Or is that something different?
I will remember this EVENTUALLY I promise. |
